27th Women’s Partnership Match Play heads to Oakmont Country Club

The Texas Golf Association’s 2026 women’s season continues in March with its second event of the year. The 27th Women’s Partnership Match Play is scheduled for March 23–24 at Oakmont Country Club.

“We’re excited to bring this event to Oakmont Country Club,” Tournament Coordinator Charlie Martindale said. “They have been phenomenal hosts for the Texas Golf Association in the past with qualifiers and events, and bringing this championship to such a great course should make for a great event.”

The Women’s Partnership Match Play features a unique twist on the traditional match play format. The competition will consist of 45 holes of round-robin net four-ball modified match play.

Teams of two partners each play their own ball, with the lower score counting for the team on each hole. Every hole is worth two points, while a tie earns one point for each side. After 45 holes, the team with the most points in its flight is declared the winner.

“This is a fun format for the players,” Martindale said. “There’s a lot to play for, and the women really enjoy the competition. You’re not competing across 18-hole matches, so maximizing points in the nine holes you play for each match is key.”

Oakmont Country Club sits on 170 acres of rolling terrain just north of Lake Lewisville in Corinth. The course was designed by architect Roger Packard with design consultation from Don January, the renowned PGA Seniors Champion. The layout blends natural beauty with a challenging test of golf and serves as a central social gathering place for the surrounding community.

“The course itself is challenging but fair,” Martindale said. “If players put themselves in the right spots they’ll be rewarded, but you can find yourself in trouble pretty quickly. It will be a great test for the women.”

At the 26th Women’s Partnership Match Play, held at the New Course at White Bluff Resort, each flight delivered its own dramatic storyline as teams battled through four matches on a demanding course rated 72.7 with a slope of 136.

In Flight One, Camm Dougherty of Corpus Christi and Leslie McCallick of Horseshoe Bay held off a tight field. The pair entered the final match with a slim lead before securing the title with eight points, finishing with 50 total points and a two-point victory.

Flight Two also featured a thrilling finish as Lisa Papes of Allen and Sarah Farmer of Arlington surged ahead with a flight-high 13 points in the final match. Their consistent play carried them to the top spot with an impressive 57 points overall.

Flight Three saw Claudia Willis and Dianne Dillard of Bryan lead from start to finish. The duo capped their wire-to-wire performance with a 12-point final match to secure a two-point victory and a 54-point total.

In Flight Four, Elise Storaune and Kerry Carter-Taylor of Houston delivered when it mattered most, scoring 11 points in the final round to edge the field by a single point in one of the closest finishes of the weekend.

Flight Five concluded with a commanding performance from Grace Ferguson of Spring Branch and Veronica Fair of Odem. Their 10-point final match pushed their total to 54 points and sealed an eight-point victory.

Altogether, 1,299 points were scored across the five flights, highlighting a weekend filled with competitive play, clutch performances and memorable finishes.
