Texas Cup Invitational heads to Rayburn Resort
ADDISON – The 2025 Texas Cup Invitational will take place at Rayburn Resort, marking the first all-boys major on the 2025 calendar. The 54-hole tournament is set for March 10-12, with a cut to the low 30 players and ties after 36 holes.
“We are thankful and excited to be heading to Rayburn Resort and Marina,” Tournament Coordinator Preston Vinzant said. “They were able to host this tournament on short notice, and we are excited to bring the level of talent on our tour to a new venue for a major championship.”
The tournament was originally scheduled for Westwood Golf Club on the same dates but was relocated after unforeseen circumstances.
“We are thankful for Westwood Golf Club and all their hard work in preparing for the Texas Cup Invitational,” Vinzant said. “We look forward to continuing our partnership with the club in the future and returning to the prestigious venue.”
Nestled in the hills surrounding Lake Sam Rayburn, Rayburn Resort is a hidden gem. The 27-hole course features 150 feet of elevation change, along with new greens, tees, bunkers, and fairways designed to challenge golfers of all skill levels.
The front nine was designed in 1968 by Jay Riviere, known for contribution’s on the restoration of Memorial Park Golf Course, Jackrabbit Course at Champions Golf Club, and the design of Panorma Golf Club. This stretch features only one hole with water but compensates with strategically placed bunkers around the greens.
The back nine was designed by world-renowned golf course architect Robert Trent Jones, whose portfolio includes Shady Oaks Country Club, the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, the Olympic Club Lake Course, and West Point Golf Course. This section of the course is characterized by four dogleg holes and a tighter layout than the front nine.
Mitchell Maier of Richmond emerged victorious at the 2024 Texas Cup Invitational, held at Eagle’s Bluff Country Club in Bullard, Texas. The University of North Texas golf commit recorded five birdies and three bogeys in the final round to secure the title. It was Maier’s second Legends Junior Tour victory and his first major championship.
