Regional Four-Balls Set for Feb. 21-22
The Texas Golf Association’s 2026 men’s tournament schedule kicks off with the North and South Regional Four-Ball Championships. The season openers will be held concurrently from Feb. 21-22.
Cross Timbers Golf Course in Azle will host the North Regional Four-Ball, while The Wilderness Golf Course in Lake Jackson will welcome the South Regional Four-Ball. Both courses have been longtime supporters of amateur golf and have welcomed numerous TGA events through the years, with Cross Timbers most recently hosting the 2022 Texas Mid-Amateur Match Play, won by Aaron Hickman, and The Wilderness staging the 2023 South Regional Amateur, won by Terrin Anderson.
Opened in 1995, Cross Timbers Golf Course was designed by Texas-based architect Jeffery Brauer. Routed through a secluded woodland area near Ash Creek, the 6,734-yard, par-72 layout features significant elevation changes, tree-lined fairways, and natural hazards. The Wilderness Golf Course was also designed by Brauer and opened for play in 2004. Bordered by the Brazos River and three wildlife sanctuaries, the 7,106-yard, par-72 course is highlighted by holes that weave through and around hardwood forests, streams, marshes, and protected wetlands.
First played in 2003, Regional Four-Ball entries are open to two-player teams of male amateur golfers with each member of the team having an up-to-date WHS™ Handicap Index not exceeding 8.4 issued through a member club of the TGA and residing in the region relative to their respective championship. The delineation between the North and South regions is the 31st parallel that passes through the city of Salado.
Both championships are conducted using the same competitive format. The starting field of 44 teams (88 players) will play 36 holes of four-ball stroke play over two days with no cut. Regional performance points, which are applied to the yearlong North and South Regional Player of the Year races, are awarded to the top five team finishers.
Starting times and pairings for the first round will be posted on the TGA website no later than Feb. 17. Live scoring updates and daily recaps will also be available online once the action gets underway from Cross Timbers Golf Course and The Wilderness Golf Course.
At the 2025 North Regional Four-Ball, Reid Jacobs and Kade Miller won the title with scores of 64-69 at Stonetree Golf Club in Killeen. Their 11-under-par 133 total was good for a one-stroke margin of victory over four teams tied at 134 (-10). Clay Fullick and Robert Gwin posted rounds of 67-63 to win their second consecutive South Regional Four-Ball at Eagle Pointe Golf Club in Mont Belvieu. The duo’s 12-under 130 total was two shots clear of brothers Casey and Michael Carnes at 132 (-10).
