Golf Course: One of the oldest clubs in North Texas, Denton Country Club opened in 1922 with a nine-hole course. The club expanded to 18 holes in the late 1960s, designed by Texas Golf Hall of Fame architect Ralph Plummer. The par-71 layout is situated on 215 acres of rolling countryside, featuring tree-lined corridors, numerous hazards, and small, sloping greens.

Weather: Texas fall weather was in full effect on the first day of the Texas Shootout. Players were welcomed by a light, steady mist in the morning, with temperatures in the mid-60s. As the round progressed, the mist disappeared, and the cool weather made for a pleasant morning. In the afternoon, Four-Ball matches saw temperatures rise into the 70s, with the sun peeking through partly cloudy skies.

Saturday Foursome Matches: Foursome matches kicked off with the North Team taking an early lead. The South Team refused to back down, climbing back from a leaderboard dominated by blue scores from the North. The final matches of the day provided motivation for the back nine, with the North Team leading 10-8 at the conclusion of Foursomes.

Saturday Four-Ball Matches: The North Team came out swinging in the afternoon, opening the Four-Ball matches with an early lead they never relinquished. Leading by five points as teams made the turn for their back-nine matches, North players secured victories in all but the final two matches of the day. The highlight was the North Senior Division, which nearly swept all its matches, helping propel the North Team to a confident lead.

More Info: Singles matches will commence tomorrow at 8 a.m., featuring Marcus Jones against Cal Clyde. The North Team will tee off first.
