McMyler takes the lead in the Round Two, Huang and Brown are in the hunt
In round two Emma McMyler of San Antonio, took charge as she carded an astounding 5-under par 67, this puts her at 140 after two rounds.
“Kind of got off to slow start, had to take a drop on the first hole,” McMyler said. “From there I just played really solid, hit a lot a good shots…today I was able to make a few more putts than yesterday, got the putter hot which was nice.”
McMyler made six birdies after making a bogey on the first hole and cemented herself in first place.
Tied for second place is Maye Huang from Katy and McKinney’s own Shyla Brown tied at 143 for the first two rounds.
Huang shot 1-over par 73 in round two, her journey consisted of three birdies and two bogeys on the round.
Brown had a better round today going 2-under par 70, she made four birdies and two bogeys.
“I think today was the day to be aggressive, the tees were moved up, so I was aggressive on the par fives, I went for two of them and they rewarded me,” Brown said.
Tied for fourth are Austin’s Bentley Cotton and Honorine Nobuta Ferry from Flower Mound at a total of 145.
Cotton went for an even par 72, her round consisted of three birdies and 12 pars, while Nobuta Ferry locked in three birdies and nine pars.
In sixth place by herself Austin’s own Ava Osborne carded a 5-over par 77, she is sitting at 152 total.
In the Low Mid-Amateur Championship Division Stephanie Hurlbert of The Woodlands kept her spot in first place going 4-over par 76 for a total of 154 after two rounds.
In the Flights Division starting with Flight One Julie Robichaux from Kingwood shot 5-over par at 77. After two rounds, she is sitting at a total of 158.Flight Two is led by Cindy Gilkeson of Sugar Land,she shot an 84for a total of 167. In Flight Three Sabra Fullwood of Leander shot a 94, for a two day total of 190.
Today’s Championship Division was contested at approximately 6,150 yards and the Flight yardage was played at 5,300 yards.
The Final round of the Women’s Stroke Play Championship starts Sunday at 8:00 am.
