Mabrey and Staggs Win Rik Massengale Four-Ball
August 14th 2013 –
The low round of the day came from Brad Payne (CGF staff) & Jonathan Moore (OK State Grad, former NCAA National Champion, and current Asian Tour pro). Brad & Jonathan poured in 10 birdies and 1 eagle to shoot a tournament low 60 in the final round and total of -17 for third place alone.
Finishing in a 7 way tie for 4th place at -13 were Cory Bournds & Tanner Kesterson, Buddy Hallman & Ryan Bell, Hunter Rawls & Jack Vanderburg, Johnny Antle & Charlie Gibson, Jeffrey Juillerat & Coach Ryan Sirman, Draegen Majors & Sam Lee, and Dillon Vaughn & Hunter Shattuck.
Jett Johnson won individual award at the Rik Massengale Four-Ball for the person with the most underpar holes during the two-round event with 14 under par holes. Matt Mabrey finished solo second at -13, while Johnathan Moore & Colton Staggs tied for third at -12.
The Tournament Hosts, 66-year-old Rik Massengale (3 Time PGA Tour Winner) & 44-year-old Paul Stankowski (3 Time PGA Tour Winner) had a solid showing competing among the young guns. They teamed up to shoot 65, 68 and finish in a tie for 15th at -11.
In its first year, the Rik Massengale Four-Ball was host to 41 teams, representing 29 colleges. It was an honor to have two coaches join us, Head Coach Shane Howell (TX State) & Grad Assistant Ryan Sirman (Oklahoma).
