Knox, McLaughlin, and Darter Win Hannon-Fields Jr Invitational
Briefly: Dylan Knox of Austin wins the Boys Division at the Hannon-Fields Junior Invitational at the University of Texas Golf Club, with a two-day total five-under par, 137. Austin’s Beckett McLaughlin wins the Boys 14 and Under Division with a five-under par, 137. Rylen Darter of Taylor wins the Girls Division with a two-under, 140.
Austin’s Dylan Knox, a 2028 graduate and recent University of Arkansas commit, started the final round of the Hannon-Fields Invitational five shots back from the lead, but after a windy hot day played for a difficult competitive round, he was able to secure the championship. Knox finished with a two-day total of five-under par 137. Knox had two top ten finishes on the 2026 Legends Junior Tour season coming into the event, but the Hannon-Fields Junior Invitational is his first Legends Junior Tour win this year.
Austin’s Beckett McLaughlin finished with a three-under par, 68 to win the Hannon-Fields Junior Invitational. McLaughlin started the day one back from the lead, but after securing four birdies during his round, he was able to secure the Championship. McLaughlin finished the Hannon-Fields Junior Invitational with a two-day total five-under par, 137. This is McLaughlin’s fifth win in the 2026 Legends Junior Tour season.
Taylor’s Rylen Dater started the day sharing the lead with Pippa Fikes of Fair Oaks Ranch, but she was able to hold steady finishing with an even par round, 71 finishing the Hannon-Fields Junior Invitational with a 2-under two-day total of 140. Darter, a 2029 graduate, had two top 15 finishes on the Legends Junior Tour this season, but the Hannon-Fields Junior Invitational marks her first 2026 win on the Legends Junior Tour.
In Contention: In the Boys Division Austin’s Henry Talarico and JP Lynch, Cedar Park’s Hakon Hundhausen, and The Woodland’s Tripp Depoy all finished tied for second with a two-day total four-under par, 138.
In the Boys 14 and Under Division, Mason Hwang of Houston took second place after finishing the Hannon-Fields Junior Invitational at a two-day total one-under par, 141. San Antonio’s Gavin Martinez finished in third place after finishing with a two-day total two over-par, 144.
In the Girls Division, Pippa Fikes of Fair Oaks Ranch went into the final round, sharing the lead with Champion Rylen Darter. Fikes finished second overall with a one-over par final round, and a two-day total of 143. Austin’s Addison Bandelier took third place with a two-over par two-day total of 144.
Golf Course: The University of Texas Golf Club was designed by Bechtol Russell and opened in 2003. The course is set along the Colorado River and features stunning Texas Hill Country views along with a challenging par-71 layout. The course overlooks Lake Austin and borders the Balcones Natural Wildlife Preserve and has hosted the Hannon-Fields Junior Invitational eleven times now, including the last nine years.
Weather: Temperatures started in the high 70’s under cloudy skies for Tuesday mornings final round, with an afternoon high temperature in the high 90’s and a heat index of around 100 degrees. Steady south winds of around 10 mph and gusts reaching over 20 mph may have helped with today’s heat but made for a difficult competitive final round.
Tournament Format: The Hannon-Fields Junior Invitational is a 36-hole stroke play event for players that have earned an exemption through the Texas Junior Golf Alliance or the Hannon Society. The 96-player field is one of the strongest in the state as they play 18 holes each day.
Player of the Year Points: Dylan Knox, Beckett McLaughlin, and Rylen Darter all earned 1500 points in the Player of the Year Point Race. Points are awarded at each tournament to the top half of each age division. 2026 LJT Player of the Year Points Standings
About George Hannon: George Hannon, who was affectionately called “Coach”, coached the University of Texas golf team for 18 seasons. Coach Hannon saw his Longhorns win two National Championships in 1971 and 1972, 12 Southwest Conference Titles and three individual titles. Hannon’s Horns included Ben Crenshaw, Tom Kite, Mark Brooks, Phil Blackmar, Brandel Chamblee, Rik Massengale and Paul Thomas.
About John Fields: John Fields became the head coach of the University of Texas Men’s Golf Team in 1997 and is still coaching the team to this day. Coach Fields has led the Longhorn program to two National Championships in 2012 and 2022 along with runner-up finishes in 2016 and 2019. During his tenure, the Longhorns have made it to 23 NCAA Championships and won the Big 12 Conference nine times. Fields’ Horns include Jordan Spieth, Scottie Scheffler, Pierceson Coody, Cole Hammer, Doug Ghim, Parker Coody, Tommy Morrison, and many others.
Hannon Cup Association: The Hannon Cup Association contributes to golf scholarships, supports the Austin Junior Golf Academy and hosts the Hannon-Fields Junior Invitational and Hannon Cup Matches. Mark Coward and Brent Buckman were instrumental in conceiving the idea and in organizing and forming the initial committee for the Hannon Cup. Support was provided by a group of individuals and businesses that became known as the Hannon Society. To date, the Association has distributed more than $145,000 worth of secondary education scholarships through the Southern Texas PGA Foundation.

Texas Junior Golf Alliance: The Alliance is a joint venture between the Texas Golf Association, Northern and Southern Texas PGA and Houston Golf Association. The goal of the Alliance was to allow junior golfers a clear path to the best tournaments in Texas. Each of the three tier-two organizations (STPGA, NTPGA, HGA) conduct events that serve as qualifiers into the statewide tier-one events run by the Legends Junior Tour (LJT). This allows players to compete in local events in which they can earn spots to play in statewide tournaments.
Tournament History: The Hannon-Fields Junior Invitational finished its 17th year on the Legends Junior Tour schedule and features past champions such as Adam Villanueva, Maxwell Miller, Cole Hammer, Chandler Phillips, Tayler Termeer, Hailee Cooper, Joe and Julia Beck, Matthew Comegys, Keaton Vo, Henry Guan, Farrah O’Keefe and Nicole Vivier. This event has been held at UT Golf Club for the last nine years.
