Kade Miller and Reid Jacobs win North Four-Ball Championship
Briefly: Kade Miller of Lorena and Reid Jacobs of Waco, went wire to wire to claim the 2025 North Four-Ball at Stonetree Golf Club in Killeen, TX. Miller and Jacobs overcame a furious comeback by a large portion of the field on the final round to claim their first Texas Golf Association victory.
Golf Course: Stonetree Golf Club located in Killeen, TX just southwest of Waco was built in 1970 by Jay Rivere to offer a non-military golfing alternative to residents of Killeen. The course underwent renovation by Lee Singletary in 2005. The course offers a nice challenge to players with undulating fairways and tricky green complexes.
Weather: Saturday’s round featured frigid temperatures with a frost delay postponing play until 10:00am. The temperature reached a high of 42 degrees by the end of play. Sunday’s final round featured much nicer temperatures with a high of 64 degrees by the conclusion of play. Winds gusted about 10 mph both Saturday and Sunday.
Top Finishers: Miller and Jacobs posted four-ball rounds of 64 and 69 over the two days of play for a 133 total. They carded only two bogeys for the tournament as a team, one in both rounds. After leading after round one carding 8-under, the course played a little more challenging on the final round and the rest of the field made a surging comeback with at one point 5 teams tied for the lead at 10-under with only 3 holes to play between each of them. Miller and Jacobs were able to birdie hole 17 to grab a one-shot lead heading to 18. Jacobs’s tee shot landed on the left hill and from about 140 yards out he was able to put his shot to 7 feet giving him two putts to secure their victory at 11-under for the tournament.
Finishing in a four-way tie for second place were the teams of Jared Jimenez and Adam House of Heath and Rockwall respectively, Gary Ezmerlian and Les Ledingham both from Fort Worth, Ben Carter of Dallas and Kyle Kelley of Rowlett, and finally the team of Chris Bailey from Lewisville and Phillip Shurden of Decatur. Jimenez and House shot rounds of 67-67. Ezmerlian and Ledingham as well as Carter and Kelley shot rounds of 66-68. Bailey and Shurden also shot rounds of 66-68 and narrowly missed about an eight foot putt for birdie on 18 to force a playoff for the championship.
Regional POY: North Regional Player of the Year points will be awarded to the top 5 finishing teams. Made/Jacobs will receive 400 for their victory. Jimenez/House, Ezmerlian/Ledingham, Carter/Kelley, and Bailey/Shurden will each receive 175 points for their four-way tie for second place.
