BEE CAVE – No. 6 seeded Grace Jin of Huntsville and No. 8 Emma McMyler of San Antonio will face off in the final of the 103rd Women’s Texas Amateur.  

Jin, a rising sophomore at Sam Houston State University would kick off her quarterfinal matchup against No.3 seed Veronika Exposito of The Woodlands. Jin would go 1 UP early and hold that lead in the match going into the back nine. Jin would lose No.10 but gain it right back on No. 11 and No.12. From there, Jin would march herself into the semifinals winning 4&3.  

“This morning I was feeling good about my swing and putts,” the Huntsville native shared. “I played with Veronika who I haven’t played with in a while and was enjoying the match.”  

In her semifinal match, Jin would have to face Baylor University sophomore Ashleen Kaur. Jin this time would fall behind early in the match before going 2 UP by No.6. From there Jin would show dominance once again winning 4&3 to send herself into the final.  

Jin, playing in her first Women’s Texas Amateur has found herself in a rematch with McMyler from the 2023 Women’s Southern Amateur Championship at Golf Club of Houston.  

“It feels great to play in my first final in this tournament and I am excited,” mentioned Jin, “I love this course and the greens roll great and this tournament has just been incredible.” 

McMyler would kick off match day two against No.1 seed Tille Claggett of Spring. In what felt like a finals match between the two, McMyler would eventually prevail in 20 holes booking herself a semifinal spot for the third time in the last four years.  

“Yeah both matches today were really close today,” shared the Duke University golfer. “A lot of birdies were made and I had to play well to advance into the final.”  

McMyler would face off against No. 28-seeded Maelynn Kim in a match in which she found herself going shot-for-shot in the first four holes. McMyler would go 1 UP on No. 8 and would never look back on her way to her 4&2 match win.  

“I know me and Maelynn started back and forth with four birdies, so it was a great match in both the morning and the afternoon.”  

McMyler, a two-time Women’s Texas Amateur Champion will look to bring home the Silver Lake Cup trophy once again.  

McMyler and Jin will face off in the Final Match of the 103rd Women’s Texas Amateur at 8:34 AM off No.1. Hoping to be added to an elite list of champions, McMyler and Jin will also have their eyes set on one more perk of winning this year’s tournament. 

In an official announcement by the USGA, the 103rd Women’s Texas Amateur is an Official USGA Exemption Event where the champion will receive an exemption into the 124th U.S. Women’s Amateur at Southern Hills Country Club.  

Match Day three at the 103rd Women’s Texas Amateur will commence at 7:30 AM with the Championship Flight commencing at 8:34 AM.
