Hundhausen, Chen, Anderson, Rambie, Fikes, and Darter Lead at Hannon-Fields Junior Invitational
Briefly: Hakon Hundhausen took the lead in the Boys Division after an 8-under par 63 at The University of Texas Golf Club. In the Boys 14 & Under Division, Ryan Chen, Asher Anderson, and Tres Rambie all share the lead at 2-under par, 69. Rylen Darter and Pippa Fikes fired 2-under par to share the lead in the Girls Division.
Cedar Park’s Hakon Hundhausen takes the lead going into the final round of the Hannon-Fields Junior Invitational after finishing with an astounding, bogey-free, 8-under par, 63. Hundhausen has had two top 10 finishes in the Legends Junior Tour this 2026 season.
Houston’s Ryan Chen, Austin’s Asher Anderson, and Dallas’s Tres Rambie, each fired a 2-under-par 69.
Rylen Darter of Taylor and Pippa Fikes of Fair Oaks Ranch, lead the Girls Division. Darter and Fikes both had strong back nines to finish their rounds at 2-under par, 69.
In Contention: Tripp Depoy of The Woodlands carded a 6-under-par 65 with seven birdies and one bogey, putting him two strokes behind Hundhausen’s 63. Austin’s JP Lynch and Hank Farrell, along with Dallas’s Stone Fancher, sit three strokes off the lead after all three fired 5-under-par 66s. With 13 players finishing under par after Round 1, the championship could be anyone’s to win.
In the Boys 14 & Under Division, Austin’s Beckett McLaughlin and Houston’s Mason Hwang sit one stroke behind the leaders, setting up a competitive final round.
In the Girls Division, Austin’s Ava Frazier and Addison Bandelier are tied for third after scoring 2-over par, 73.
Golf Course: The University of Texas Golf Club was designed by Bechtol Russell and opened in 2003. The course is set along the Colorado River and features stunning Texas Hill Country views along with a challenging par-71 layout. The course overlooks Lake Austin and borders the Balcones Natural Wildlife Preserve and has hosted the Hannon-Fields Junior Invitational ten times now, including the last eight years. During the first round, the par 71 UT Golf Club layout played at 6924 yards for the Boys Division, 5869 yards for the Girls Division and 6304 yards for the Boys 14 and Under Division.
Weather: Temperatures started in the high 70s under partly cloudy skies Monday morning, with an afternoon high in the high 90s and a heat index reaching 105 degrees. A calm south wind did little to alleviate the heat for the players.
Tournament Format: The Hannon-Fields Junior Invitational is a 36-hole stroke play event for players that have earned an exemption through the Texas Junior Golf Alliance or the Hannon Society. The 96-player field is one of the strongest in the state as they play 18 holes each day.
Player of the Year Points: 1500 points in the 2026 Player of the Year Point Race are up for grabs for the winners this week at the Hannon-Fields Junior Invitational. Points are awarded at each tournament to the top half of each age division. 2026 LJT Player of the Year Points Standings
About George Hannon: George Hannon, who was affectionately called “Coach”, coached the University of Texas golf team for 18 seasons. Coach Hannon saw his Longhorns win two National Championships in 1971 and 1972, 12 Southwest Conference Titles and three individual titles. Hannon’s Horns included Ben Crenshaw, Tom Kite, Mark Brooks, Phil Blackmar, Brandel Chamblee, Rik Massengale and Paul Thomas.
About John Fields: John Fields became the head coach of the University of Texas Men’s Golf Team in 1997 and is still coaching the team to this day. Coach Fields has led the Longhorn program to two National Championships in 2012 and 2022 along with runner-up finishes in 2016 and 2019. During his tenure, the Longhorns have made it to 23 NCAA Championships and won the Big 12 Conference nine times. Fields’ Horns include Jordan Spieth, Scottie Scheffler, Pierceson Coody, Cole Hammer, Doug Ghim, Parker Coody, Tommy Morrison, and many others.
Hannon Cup Association: The Hannon Cup Association contributes to golf scholarships, supports the Austin Junior Golf Academy and hosts the George Hannon Junior Invitational and Hannon Cup Matches. Mark Coward and Brent Buckman were instrumental in conceiving the idea and in organizing and forming the initial committee for the Hannon Cup. Support was provided by a group of individuals and businesses that became known as the Hannon Society. To date, the Association has distributed more than $145,000 worth of secondary education scholarships through the Southern Texas PGA Foundation.

Texas Junior Golf Alliance: The Alliance is a joint venture between the Texas Golf Association, Northern and Southern Texas PGA and Houston Golf Association. The goal of the Alliance was to allow junior golfers a clear path to the best tournaments in Texas. Each of the three tier-two organizations (STPGA, NTPGA, HGA) conduct events that serve as qualifiers into the statewide tier-one events run by the Legends Junior Tour (LJT). This allows players to compete in local events in which they can earn spots to play in statewide tournaments.
Next Up: The Final Round of the Hannon-Fields Junior Invitational is scheduled for Tuesday with tee times starting at 7:30 AM off the No. 1 and 10 tees. Following Tuesday’s Final Round, awards will be handed to the top five in the Boys Division and top three in the Girls and Boys 14 & Under Divisions.
