Creekmore Holds Lead After Round 2 at the Womens Senior Stroke Play Championship

GEORGETOWN – Carolyn Creekmore of Dallas will take a 12-shot lead into the final round of the 2017 Women’s Senior Stroke Play Championship after she posted a 1-under 71 in Tuesday’s rain-plagued second round.
 
Play was suspended at 11:56 a.m. due to course conditions but was resumed in almost an hour as the rain subsided and the sun began to shine on Berry Creek Country Club in Georgetown.
 
Creekmore, the defending champion, took a commanding 12-shot with a two-day total of 1-under 143. On the front nine, Creekmore birdied three holes and finished with one bogey to shot 2-under 34. 

Anna Schultz of Heath shot a 1-over 73 and is in solo second with a two day total of 155. Camm Dougherty of Corpus Christi is tied with Leslie Henry of Ennis and Marian Barker of Lubbock in third place with a two day total of 158.
 
The Women’s Senior Stroke Play Championship is a three day stroke play event. The field of 70 ladies was divided into five flights after today’s round. All players are competing for the Overall Title and also awarded will be the Super Senior (All players are competing for the Overall Title and also awarded will be the Super Senior (65 – 71 years of age) and the Super Senior (71 years of age and older). 
 
This is the first year Berry Creek Country Club has held the Women’s Senior Stroke Play Championship. The 18-hole facility is nestled on what was once Logan Ranch. The course features water on seven holes, strategically placed bunkers, and undulated Bermuda grass greens, making it a challenging and fun layout that will test the skills of the senior players in Texas.
