HORSESHOE BAY RESORT – Frank and Brennan Young prevailed in their first Texas Father-Son Championship, winning the 44th Texas Father-Son Championship at Apple Rock Golf Course. The Youngs faced off against the team of Scott and Jake Lile on Sunday in a sudden death playoff after both teams finished 13-under-par through 18 holes in the Championship Flight.

After reaching the fairway, all four players landed their approach shots off the 18th green. Frank and Brennan both managed to put their third shots within five feet of the hole. Jake placed his third shot within a foot of the hole, while Scott, after finding the bunker on his second shot, took four shots to reach the putting surface, ultimately leading to the Youngs’ victory.

After sinking their close par putts on the 18th to secure their win in the Championship Flight, the Young duo celebrated with hugs. “It feels pretty amazing. There’s nothing better than sharing it with my dad,” said Brennan Young about the win. “We are amazed that we won in our first outing. It’s incredible. Both of us recovering from not-so-great second shots and making up and down for par was incredible,” added Frank Young. Both father and son were thrilled with the way Sunday went and credited aggressive play and hard work for their victory in the Championship Flight.

On Sunday, the Championship Division switched to a combined score for the final round. The Youngs were in third place following Round 2 of play. They finished even-par on the day with a combined score of 144.

The 18-hole, Par 72 course begins in high, rocky terrain and finishes along the shoreline of Lake LBJ, boasting dramatic elevation changes, high-quality Bermuda fairways and Bentgrass greens that offer faster and truer putting surfaces. With more than 50 bunkers, and water coming into play on seven holes, it will challenge even the most skilled players. FORMAT: The Championship Division consists of 40 teams. These teams will play four-ball stroke play in rounds one and two. After 36 holes, the Championship Division will be separated into two flights. The low 50% (and ties) will make up the Championship Flight and will play Combined Score (individual stroke play using both players scores) in the final round to determine the overall champion. The team with the lowest 54-hole total will determine the overall champions. The remaining teams from the Championship Division will be placed in the Presidents Flight and will play another round of four-ball stroke play for their final round. Teams will carry their 36-hole total score forward to determine the President Flight winner. The team with the lowest 54-hole total will determine the winner.
