Big Easy Ranch Raises $500K for MD Anderson
One of the newer TGA member clubs, Big Easy Ranch in Columbus, recently donated $500,000 to MD Anderson Cancer Center, Department of Immunology. The staggering amount was raised during its annual Big Easy Ranch Shoot Out earlier this spring.
Exclusive to Big Easy Ranch members and their invited guests, the Shoot Out combines an 18-hole scramble golf tournament on The Covey and a 10-station sporting clay competition. One hundred golfers and thirty-two shooters participated, with more than 150 in attendance for the cocktail reception, awards dinner, and live auction.
“This is always such a fun event for our members,” said Billy Brown, owner of Big Easy Ranch. “This was our second year playing the golf tournament on The Covey. It was even more exciting because it had just been ranked nationally as the Best New Private Golf Course in the country by Golf Digest.”
The Big Easy Ranch Shoot Out was launched in 2018 and went on hiatus due to the pandemic from 2020-21. The 2024 event also raised $500,000. To date, Big Easy Ranch has donated more than $2.3 million to MD Anderson Cancer Center.
“Each and every one of us has been affected by cancer in some way,” Brown said. “Being a cancer survivor and patient of MD Anderson, I wanted to do something to give back to the cancer community, and specifically to those who are spearheading research programs that treat and cure cancer. Hopefully, our contributions will not only aid those diagnosed with cancer now but help obliterate the disease completely.”
