Emanuels grabs Medalist honors for the second consecutive year at the 104th Women’s Texas Amateur

CORPUS CHRISTI –  Isabel Emanuels of Austin claimed medalist honors for the second consecutive year at the 104th Women’s Texas Amateur. The rising senior at Westlake High School carded a 3-under 69 to secure the top spot.

Corpus Christi Country Club welcomed 86 of the state’s best women’s amateur players on Tuesday for the stroke-play qualifying round, all battling for a coveted spot in the top 32 and a ticket to the Championship Bracket.

Emanuels delivered under pressure, right where she’s been before. After sharing medalist honors with Tillie Claggett of Spring two years ago, this time she left no doubt, locking up the title outright.

With the No. 1 seed in hand, Emanuels will lead the field into match play, as players set their sights on the championship trophy set to be awarded on June 27.

Two more strong contenders sit right behind her. Breanna Hoese of Austin and Raleygh Simpson of Kerrville both posted impressive 2-under 70s to tie for second. Hoese claimed the No. 2 seed, with Simpson earning the No. 3 spot heading into tomorrow’s action.

Fresh off a semifinal run at the Women’s Amateur in Scotland, Claggett continued her strong form with a 1-under 71, good for the No. 4 seed. It marks her second straight year entering the Round of 32 as a top-five seed.

Rounding out the top five is Mason Lewis of Granbury, who carded an even-par 72. Lewis, a standout for the University of North Texas women’s golf team, will face Isabel Crow in her opening match.

Several familiar names will also be in the mix when match play tees off. Former champions Grace Jin of Huntsville (103rd), Madison Le of Arlington (102nd) and Bentley Cotton of Austin (99th) all advanced through qualifying. Each is chasing history — aiming to become just the latest two-time winner and join an exclusive club of multiple-time champions.

Senior Medalist honors went to Jennifer Hoyt of Horseshoe Bay Resort, a past Texas Golf Association champion. Hoyt secured the title with a steady round, edging Claudia Ramirez by two strokes.

Off of their redesign in 2022 by Chet Williams, Corpus Christi Country Club showed off its lush fairways and quick greens in the qualifying round of the 104th Women’s Texas Amateur. Elevating the costal environment, CCCC will be a perfect matchup for players heading into match play for the first major championship on the Women’s 2025 Calendar.

Calm morning conditions greeted early groups at Corpus Christi Country Club, but steady coastal winds picked up by the afternoon, providing a stiff challenge for players. The course measured 6,161 yards for the qualifying round.

Match play kicks off tomorrow with the Round of 32 and Round of 16 in the Championship Flight, beginning at 7:30 a.m. off No. 1.
