99th Texas Junior Amateur presented by Edwin Watts Golf set for July 28-30
ADDISON — The 99th Texas Junior Amateur, presented by Edwin Watts Golf, is set to return to Horseshoe Bay Resort from July 28–30. The final major championship on the 2025 Legends Junior Tour calendar will be contested across the resort’s Ram Rock and Apple Rock courses.
“We are excited for another year of this incredible tournament,” said Legends Junior Tour Tournament Director Scott Davidson. “This wraps up our major championships for the season, and we get to see the top Texas golfers compete against each other on a big stage.”
The Boys Division will play all three rounds on Ram Rock, where many of the state’s top players will battle for the coveted title. The field includes standouts such as Wichita State commit Rhett O’Rear, Houston commit Matt Pawly, Michigan commit Mackey Beckett, 98th Texas Junior Amateur Boys’ Division Champion, and Texas A&M Golf Commit Shiv Parmar. After the second round, the field will be cut to the low 45 players and ties for the final round.
The Girls Division, along with the Boys and Girls 14 & Under divisions, will compete on Apple Rock. The 14 & Under players will play 36 holes to decide their champions, while the Girls Division will play 54 holes with a cut to the low 27 players and ties after the second round. The Girls Division promises to be highly competitive, featuring elite juniors such as U.S. National Development Program player Shyla Brown, 98th Texas Junior Amateur Girls Division champion Honorine Nobuta Fairy, and Ava Osborne, who recently reached the Round of 64 at the 76th U.S. Girls’ Junior Amateur.
This year marks the third consecutive Texas Junior Amateur to be recognized as an official USGA exemption event. The Boys Division champion will earn a spot in the 78th U.S. Junior Amateur at Saucon Valley Country Club, while the Girls Division champion will receive an exemption into the 77th U.S. Girls’ Junior Amateur at Old Chatham Golf Club.
“It’s incredible to have the Texas Junior Amateur continue to be an official USGA exemption event,” Davidson said. “It’s been great to see our players earn exemptions into USGA championships. They not only represent the LJT and Texas Junior Golf Alliance, but all of Texas and the incredible junior golf talent we have.”
Horseshoe Bay Resort, the host site of the championship, has a storied history dating back to 1971, when cousins Norman and Wayne Hurd of Brady, Texas, began developing the land into a premier lakeside destination. Inspired by the scenic Lupton Ranch along Lake LBJ, the resort was named after a rusty horseshoe the Hurds found on the lakebed—marking what they believed to be a sign. Now owned by the Jaffe family, the resort underwent a $100 million renovation completed in 2020, further solidifying its reputation as one of the top golf resorts in the country.
This year’s championship will also take a step forward in visibility. For the first time, the final nine holes of the Boys and Girls Divisions will be broadcast live by the Collegiate Golf Network (CGN).
Founded in 2023, CGN provides a first-class live golf broadcast experience from a competitive player’s perspective, spotlighting premier college, amateur, and junior events across the United States, Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico. The network’s mission is to elevate the profiles of rising players and create global exposure.
“We are beyond excited to work with the College Golf Network and broadcast the final nine holes of our Boys and Girls Divisions,” Davidson said. “We want to continue to elevate this event, and giving viewers the chance to watch top juniors compete for history will make for an incredible experience.”
Originally scheduled to be held at The Clubs of Kingwood, the 98th Texas Junior Amateur was relocated and rescheduled due to the effects of Hurricane Beryl. The Boys Division was moved to White Bluff Resort’s New Course, while the Girls Division was played at Tapatio Springs Hill Country Resort.
At White Bluff, Parmar staged a dramatic comeback in the final round to capture the Boys Division title, carding a 3-under 69. The victory marked Parmar’s first major championship on the Legends Junior Tour and earned him an exemption into the 77th U.S. Junior Amateur at Trinity Forest Golf Club.
In the Girls Division at Tapatio Springs, Nobuta-Ferry delivered a spectacular performance in the final round, firing a 7-under 65 to surge from 10th place and claim the title. Her win secured a coveted exemption into the 76th U.S. Girls’ Junior Amateur, held July 14–19 at Atlanta Athletic Club.
The first round of the 99th Texas Junior Amateur, presented by Edwin Watts Golf, will begin Sunday, July 28, at 7:30 a.m. off No. 1 tee on both the Apple Rock and Ram Rock courses.
