98th Texas Junior Amateur Girls 15-18 Division set for December 14-16

ADDISON — The 98th Texas Junior Amateur Girls 15-18 Division is set to take place at Tapatio Springs Hill Country Resort, marking the final tournament of the year. The championship will run Dec. 14-16.

“We are excited to see this event arrive and close out a fantastic 2024 season,” said Scott Davidson, Legends Junior Tour tournament director. “It’s been a long time coming, and we appreciate the patience of the players and parents in the rescheduling of this event.”

Originally scheduled for July at the Clubs of Kingwood, the tournament was postponed due to Hurricane Beryl. The 98th Texas Junior Amateur Boys 15-18 Division was rescheduled for Sept. 21-23 at White Bluff Resort – New Course, while the Girls 15-18 Division was moved to Dec. 14-16 at Tapatio Springs Hill Country Resort.

“We are thankful to the Clubs of Kingwood for working so hard after the hurricane to repair their course, and we look forward to heading back shortly,” Davidson said. “We’re also grateful to Tapatio Springs Hill Country Resort for hosting this major on short notice. We’ve held past LJT events here, and their staff and course are just incredible.”

The 98th Texas Junior Amateur is an official USGA exemption event. The champion will earn a spot in the 77th U.S. Girls’ Junior Amateur at Atlanta Athletic Club. The 84-player championship will consist of 54 holes of individual stroke play, with a cut to the low 30 players and ties after 36 holes.

The field includes the best junior golfers in Texas, competing for the state’s premier girls’ junior golf title. Notable competitors include Jackie Burke Cup South Team member Peyton Debruin, Player of the Year frontrunner Stephanie De Marco, Augusta National Women’s Amateur participant Avery Zweig, and two-time 2024 LJT champion Alicia Bellendir.

Tapatio Springs Hill Country Resort, located northwest of San Antonio, is nestled in a scenic river valley amid the grandeur of the Texas Hill Country. Once a 2,100-acre cattle ranch, it was transformed into a top-ranking golf resort in 1981. Designed by renowned golf course architect Tripp Davis, the course will play to 5,930 yards from the tournament tees, offering a challenging format for players.

Participants in the 98th Texas Junior Amateur Girls 15-18 Division are members of the Texas Junior Golf Alliance, a partnership between the Texas Golf Association and the Southern and Northern Texas PGA Sections. The alliance provides junior golfers with top-tier competition across the state and a path for growth throughout their golfing careers.

The first round of the championship begins Dec. 14 at 8 a.m., with tee times starting on holes 1 and 10.
