26th Women’s Partnership Match Play heads to White Bluff Resort

ADDISON — For the first time in tournament history, the 26th Women’s Partnership Match Play will be held at White Bluff Resort’s New Course from April 28–30. The event will close out the opening stretch of women’s competitions in 2025 ahead of the major season.

“White Bluff Resort has been such a phenomenal host for the Texas Golf Association,” said TGA’s Director of Women’s Golf Kristi Knight. “The course has been able to host some significant events for the Texas Golf Association, multiple major championships for the Legends Junior Tour, and Member Day events. The course’s challenges and the great scenery make it a perfect venue.”

Named after golf’s birthplace, St. Andrews, the two championship courses at White Bluff offer a challenging yet enjoyable experience for players of all skill levels. The New Course, designed by Bruce Lietzke and opened in 1998, stretches more than 100 yards longer than the Old Course. With a slope of 147 and a course rating of 75.5, it’s considered the more demanding of the two. The layout features traditional elements, including tighter, flatter fairways, difficult approach shots from 150 yards and in, water on 16 holes, 30 large bunkers, and smooth Tif-Eagle greens installed in 2019. In 2022, Golf Pass named the New Course the top public course in Texas and ranked it No. 29 in the nation.

The 26th Women’s Partnership Match Play will feature 45 holes of round-robin net four-ball modified match play, bringing a strategic twist to traditional team competition. In this format, two-player teams face off, with each golfer playing her own ball throughout. On each hole, only the lower of the two scores counts toward the team’s result. Each hole is worth two points, with ties earning one point per team. The team with the most points after 45 holes will be crowned the flight winner. Teams will be grouped into six-team flights based on their combined handicaps.

“This is a fun format,” shared Knight. “We get used to four-ball when playing as partners but to add a match-play style to it makes it exciting and is a change from your normal stroke-play format that you see when teeing it up at tournaments.”

At the 25th Women’s Partnership Match Play, all flights saw new champions, with Kimi Guidry of San Antonio and Nanette Hall of Universal City taking home the title in the First Flight. The team of Lisa Papes of Allen and Sarah Farmer of Arlington walked away with the title in the Second Flight. In the Third Flight, the team of Lynda Duvall of Bedford and Terry Rolan of Fort Worth won in an exciting playoff. The team of Dianne Dillard and Claudia Willis of Bryan claimed the Fourth Flight title while Sabra Fullwood of Leander and Sherry Brown of Round Rock claimed vicotry in the Fifth Flight. In the sixth flight, the team of Brenda Mosley and Virginia Vaillancourt of San Antonio reigned victorious after winning their final match.

The first matches of the 26th Women’s Partnership Match Play will begin Monday, April 28, at 9 a.m., with tee times off No. 1 and No. 10.
