Entry & Eligibility Information

Field Size/Team Selection: Each team will be comprised of 18 players representing the Texas Golf Association; selected based on Player of the Year Points Standings

Eight (8) mid-amateurs comprised of:
– Top six mid-amateurs from State Player of the Year Standings
– Top mid-amateur from North Regional Player of the Year Standings
– Top mid-amateur from South Regional Player of the Year Standings

Six (6) senior amateurs comprised of:
– Top six senior amateurs from the State Senior Player of the Year Standings

Four (4) women mid-amateurs comprised of:
– Top three women’s mid-amateurs from Women’s Player of the Year Standings
– Women’s Senior Player of the Year

Championship Information

Format/Scoring: Two days of match play consisting of Four-Ball matches on day one and singles Matches on day two. Each match is worth 3 points; 1 point for front nine, 1 point for back nine, and 1 point for overall winner. In the case of a tie, each side will receive a half point.

In the event of a tie for the overall championship, the prior year’s winning association will retain the Red River Cup

What’s Included: Entry into the Red River Cup includes greens, cart and range fees for all championship rounds, not including practice rounds. Entry also includes championship gifts, yardage books and food/beverage during the welcome reception and player dinner.

Practice Round Information: Practice rounds are available to schedule through the host club on Sunday, November 16th. Practice rounds will be available to schedule for particiapants between 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM. The practice round greens fee is $75.

Starting Times/Pairings Information: Starting times/pairings for Four-Ball matches will take place the evening before during the welcome reception. Starting times/pairings for Singles matches will take place the evening before during the player dinner.

Caddies:  Caddies are not permitted. Rule 10.3a is modified in this way: A player must not have a caddie during the round.

Cancellation/Withdrawal Procedure: Players needing to withdraw should contact their Association staff directly.

Transporation: Players may walk or ride at their own discretion. Cart Fees are included in players entry. Spectators must walk at all times.

Medical Cart: Spectators in accordance of ADA compliance may request golf carts. Requests for golf carts must be supported by complete documentation, including the fully-completed Cart Request Form and the required accompanying medical documentation specified in that form for all first-time requests. Any medical cart request that is granted by the TGA will be good for that individual for the remainder of that calendar season. A request will not be deemed complete until all required information and documentation has been provided. For further information and details contact Chris Untiedt, Senior Tournament Director.

Score Posting: The TGA will not post scores for match play events. Players can post their own scores using the course rating/slope provided in the Player Information Packet.

Rules of Golf

The Championship will be contested under the 2023 Rules of Golf as approved by the United States Golf Association and R&A, its interpretations and clarifications, 2025 Texas Golf Association Local Rules and Terms of Competition. For more information on rules, visit the USGA Rules of Golf Hub.
