Entry & Eligibility Information
Entries Open: Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at 9:00 AM
Exempt Entry Deadline: Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at 5:00 PM
Entries Close: Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at 5:00 PM
Entry Fee: $700 (per team)
Eligibility: Entries are open to male amateur golfers who reside in the state of Texas, with a WHS Handicap Index of 18.0 or less. To be eligible teams must consist of blood or legal relationship (stepfather/stepson). Teams consisting of ‘in-laws’ are not permitted. Both father and son must be a member of a TGA member club with a WHS Handicap Index and both must be a current resident of the state of Texas. Please reference TGA Men’s Competition Policies for further details, including Policies and Procedures, and Terms of Competition.
Entry Procedure: The field will be established in the order in which entries are received with a priority for exempt players in each division until the published exemption deadline. Once the exemption deadline has passed, and if the field or a division is not full, the TGA will fill the remaining spots in the field with wait listed entries, which may affect the size of each division.
Wait List Procedure/Priority: When a spot becomes available in the championship field, the TGA will fill that spot with the top ranked wait listed team in the division respective to the withdraw. Once all wait listed teams in a specific division have been exhausted, the TGA will then fill the spot in the field with the highest ranked wait listed team, regardless of division. For example: If a team from the NET Flighted Division withdraws, the highest ranked NET Flighted Division team on the wait list will be contacted to fill that spot. If there are no remaining NET Flighted Division teams on the wait list, the highest overall wait listed team will be contact. This could be a Championship Division team.
Exemptions:
a) Past TGA Father-Son Overall Champions (Last 10 Years)
b) Previous Year’s Flight Winners
c) Two (2) Host Club Exemptions
Note: Exemption may be used by the father or the son. The pair does not have to play together but are limited to a single exemption for the championship.
The TGA reserves the right to select players to be in the field. For exemption request details, please view TGA Men’s Competition Policies. Exempt players must enter by the published deadline or they will lose their exempt status and spot in the final field.
Championship Information
Field Size: The field will be limited to 80 teams. The Championship Division will consist of a maximum of 40 teams while the Net Division will consist of a maximum of 40 teams, broken into four flights.
Format – Championship Division: These teams will play four-ball stroke play in rounds one and two. After 36 holes, the Championship Division will be separated into two flights. The low 50% (and ties) will make up the Championship Flight and will play Combined Score (individual stroke play using both players scores) in the final round to determine the overall champion. The team with the lowest 54-hole total will determine the overall champions. The remaining teams from the Championship Division will be placed in the Presidents Flight and will play another round of Four-Ball Stroke Play for their final round. Teams will carry their 36-hole total score forward to determine the President Flight winner. The team with the lowest 54-hole total will determine the winner.
Format – Net Division: The Net Division will play net Four-Ball Stroke Play for each round. Teams will be pre-flighted for all rounds based on player’s combined Current Handicap Index at the close of entries (Wednesday, July 2, 2025). The Player’s Current Handicap Index will be adjusted 80% based on the course rating/slope and tees being played.
Practice Round Information: Each player is allowed one (1) complimentary practice round on Thursday, July 10, 2025 only. Scheduling of practice round tee times will take place through the TGA Golf Genius tournament software. More information will be provided to the field once registration has officially close; please do not contact the host club to schedule your practice round tee time.
Approximate Yardage: The Championship Division will play approximately 6,600 yards and the Net Flights will play approximately 6,100 yards. Note: Player Information Packet will include hole-by-hole approximate yardages.
Registration Information: Player registration will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2025. If a player cannot make registration, he must notify the TGA staff that he is unable to make the registration deadline, but will be competing in the championship. Those players not contacting a TGA Official by 5:00 PM on Thursday, July 10, are subject to forfeiting their playing position.
