2024 Fall Challenge Heads to Nutcracker Golf Club
ADDISON – The Legends Junior Tour 2024 Fall Challenge is set for Sept. 28-29 at Nutcracker Golf Club in Granbury, Texas. This marks the second time the tournament has been held at the scenic and challenging golf course.
“We look forward to heading back to Nutcracker Golf Club for this great tournament,” said Tournament Coordinator Tommy McCormack. “We have been fortunate to have USGA qualifiers and tournaments there. The membership welcomes junior golf, and the course is a great test for the players.”
Designed by Lee Singletary, Nutcracker Golf Club is located in Granbury, Texas, just under an hour southwest of Fort Worth. The 18-hole, championship-caliber golf course was constructed in 1992 and is carved out of a portion of the Leonard Bend Pecan Orchard. The land for the course was originally donated by the Anthony family, who were instrumental in creating the Pecan Plantation master community. Nutcracker Golf Club became a member-owned equity club in 2018 after members formed Nutcracker Member Golf Club Inc. and purchased the club from the Anthonys. Players will enjoy a fair but challenging parkland-style layout highlighted by majestic pecan trees, attractive water features, and excellent turf conditions. The course stretches to 6,805 yards from the back tees, with professionally manicured 419 Bermuda grass fairways and mini-Verde Bermuda grass greens.
The 2023 Fall Challenge, held at Cross Timbers Golf Course, saw Jeffery Rubenstein of Dallas win the Boys 15-18 Division. Rubenstein posted a 72-67—139 36-hole score, which sent him into a playoff with Matt Pawly of San Antonio. Rubenstein won on the first playoff hole. In the Girls 12-18 Division, Kaylee Yuan of Joshua continued her strong play after winning the 97th Texas Junior Amateur Girls’ Division, capturing the title with a 36-hole score of 73-75—148, which also sent her into a playoff against Bella Scucchi of Dallas. Like Rubenstein, Yuan won on the first playoff hole. In the Boys 14-and-under Division, Dylan Knox of Austin won the title after defeating Aadi Parmar of Selma on the first playoff hole.
The Fall Challenge is a 36-hole stroke play event for players ages 12-18 with active memberships in the Texas Junior Golf Alliance. The 84-player field is divided into Boys, Girls, and Boys 14-and-under divisions.
