2024 Alamo Shootout heads to Olmos Basin Golf Course

ADDISON – The Legends Junior Tour will head to Olmos Basin Golf Course in San Antonio for the 10th edition of the Alamo Shootout. The event is scheduled for December 7-8, marking the second to last tournament for the 2024 season.

“We are excited to bring this event to a new venue,” said Tournament Coordinator Tyler Clarke. “This tournament remains in the San Antonio area and has been hosted by some incredible courses over the years. We’re thrilled to add Olmos Basin Golf Course to the list of hosts.”

The Alamo Shootout is typically the season-ending event for the Legends Junior Tour. However, this year it will serve as the penultimate tournament. The 98th Texas Junior Amateur Girls 15-18 Division, postponed in July due to Hurricane Beryl, will now close out the 2024 season.

The 36-hole event will feature 84 players across two divisions: Boys and Girls. Champions in both divisions will earn exemptions to all invitationals and majors for the 2025 Legends Junior Tour season.

Olmos Basin is one of San Antonio’s most popular courses, located just north of downtown off Highway 281. Originally designed by George Hoffman and opened in 1963, the course underwent a major renovation in 2021, incorporating modern golf course infrastructure. The redesign, led by Jeffrey D. Blume, ASGCA, was completed in November 2021.

The course has hosted numerous Men’s and Women’s City Amateur Championships. With tree-lined fairways and a creek winding through several holes, the layout remains a local favorite. Despite its challenges, Olmos Basin offers plenty of birdie opportunities, especially for skilled ball strikers. The undulating greens provide an engaging putting experience. With five tee boxes ranging from 4,878 to 7,038 yards, the course accommodates golfers of all abilities.

Last year’s Alamo Shootout, held at Olympia Hills, saw Shiv Parmar of Selma win the Boys Division. Parmar shot an impressive 65-68 for a 133 total, securing a two-stroke victory on his home course. This marked his only title of the 2023 season before going on to win two tournaments in 2024, including the 98th Texas Junior Amateur. In the Girls Division, San Antonio native Marissa Loya dominated with a five-stroke victory, posting rounds of 72-73 for a 145 total.

The first round of the 2024 Alamo Shootout will begin at 8 a.m. on December 7. For more information about the tournament, click here.
