Two Groups Share Lead After Opening Round of South Four-Ball Championship
KINGWOOD – Defending champions John Dowdall and Randy Lance are tied for the lead with Thomas Tsika and Ross Horak after a first round 6-under par 66 at the South Four-Ball Championship. Four teams sit within two shots off of their pace. The Clubs of Kingwood are hosting their first South Regional Series Championship, and the first one of the 2016 TGA season.
Fulshear’s Dowdall and Lance, from The Woodlands, tag-teamed the Forest Course with four birdies on each side. Dowdall carded five birdies on the round and Lance added three to the total. Dowdall and Lance look to successfully defend their title in pursuit of a three-peat as South Four-Ball Champions. The duo’s only blemishes were two bogeys along the way to their opening round 66.
Midfield’s Tsika and Horak, from El Campo, mirrored the defending champions by carding four birdies on each side. Both Thomas and Ross carded four birdies on their round. They also posted two bogeys, one coming on each side.
Sitting alone in third place, one shot back, is the team of John Hunter and Joey Gullion at 5-under par 67. The three teams that share fourth place at 4-under par 68 include: Ed Sanchez & Trevor Hyde, Terrence Miskell & Trey Hallmark and Nick Jones & Adam Brady.
The final round has the makings of an exciting finish and will begin Sunday at 8:00AM off of holes #1 and #10 on the Forest Course at The Clubs of Kingwood.
