Tapatio Springs Hill Country Resort in Boerne will be the host venue for the 2025 Texas League Play Championship Playoffs. The 16-team, single-elimination bracket tournament will be held from May 29-31.

This will be the first time Tapatio Springs has hosted the showdown between teams representing member clubs of the TGA squaring off in a head-to-head contest for state bragging rights.

“We are thrilled to be at Tapatio Springs Hill Country Resort for this year’s Texas League Play postseason,” said Tyler Clarke, TGA Tournament Coordinator. “The Championship Playoffs is one of our most unique events and we are certain the resort will be a fantastic stage for three days of exciting team match play competition and good fellowship.”

Located 30 miles northwest of San Antonio in a scenic river valley, Tapatio Springs opened in 1981 with a course originally designed by Bill Johnston. In the mid-2010s, noted architect Tripp Davis supervised a multimillion-dollar renovation project that included reshaping and reconstructing tee boxes, fairways, bunkers and green complexes. Tapatio Springs has welcomed a long list of TGA events throughout the years and most recently hosted the 2024 Texas Junior Amateur Girls 15-18 Division in December and will also be the site of the 2025 Women’s Stroke Play from July 11-13.

The journey to the Championship Playoffs began in early spring with an initial lineup of 56 TGA member clubs divided into 14 regional conferences of four clubs each. During the regular season, which ran from March 5 through May 11, the clubs in each conference played a home-and-away series for a total of six matches over the nine-week stretch.

Club teams are comprised of eight players and each team match consists of four, four-ball matches: one played at scratch and three by handicap indexes arranged from low to high. Within each of the four-ball matches that make up one team match, there is one point awarded for winning the front nine, one for the back nine and one for the overall 18-hole match. A total of 12 points are available within each team match and at least 6.5 points are needed for a team victory.

The teams compiling the best record in their respective conferences earn a spot in the playoffs to determine the overall state champion. Two wild-card teams are also selected for postseason play to complete the 16-team bracket.

The regional conference winners and wild-card teams are seeded into the Championship Playoffs based on the total number of points accumulated during the regular season. Barton Creek Country Club in Austin, which was runner-up in 2024, secured the No. 1 seed with 48 points. Sugar Tree Golf Club in Lipan claimed the No. 2 seed with 47 points.

Two-time defending champions DeCordova Bend Country Club in Granbury, which notched their record-setting fifth overall title in 2024 by defeating Barton Creek, 11.5 – 0.5, in the finals at Hyatt Hill Country Golf Club in San Antonio, did not advance out of conference this year.

Three past Texas League Play champions did make the 16-team playoff bracket at Tapatio Springs. They are Odessa Country Club in Odessa (winners in 2019, 2022), Green Tree Country Club in Midland (2012, 2021), and Nutcracker Golf Club in Granbury (2020).

The first-round matches will be played May 29, quarterfinals on May 30, and semifinals and finals on May 31. All matches are 18 holes.

Live scoring updates and daily recaps from the 2025 Texas League Play Championship Playoffs will be available on the TGA website once the action gets underway from Tapatio Springs Hill Country Resort.
