Texas League Play Championship Playoffs set for May 28

White Bluff Resort’s New Course will host the 2026 Texas League Play Championship Playoffs, with the 16-team, single-elimination bracket tournament scheduled for May 28-30.

It will mark the first time White Bluff Resort has hosted the playoffs, which showcase member clubs of the Texas Golf Association from across the state competing for bragging rights and the Texas League Play trophy.

“We are excited to be bringing this event to White Bluff Resort,” said Tournament Director Duffy Suhr. “White Bluff Resort is a phenomenal member club that has hosted multiple events in the past across men’s and women’s championships, along with Legends Junior Tour invitationals and majors.”

Nestled along the shores of Lake Whitney, White Bluff Resort has established itself as one of Texas’ premier golf destinations. Developed in the early 1990s, the resort features two championship golf courses designed by former PGA Tour professional Bruce Lietzke. The Old Course, which opened in 1992, is known for its dramatic elevation changes, panoramic lake views, and undulating greens. The New Course, completed in 1998, offers a tighter, more demanding layout that has become a favorite among competitive players.

The Old Course emphasizes shot making and creativity with rolling terrain, elevated tee shots and strategic green complexes, while the New Course presents a more demanding test with narrow fairways, extensive water hazards and a layout that rewards precision. Together, the two Lietzke designs have helped establish White Bluff as one of the most respected 36-hole golf facilities in Texas.

“We believe the players are really going to love White Bluff for the playoffs,” Suhr said. “The New Course’s layout will offer some fun opportunities during the matches for players to take a risk and either get the reward or be penalized with a tougher shot.”

Teams with the best record in their respective conferences earn a spot in the playoffs to determine the overall state champion. Four wild-card teams were also selected for postseason play to complete the 16-team bracket. Conference winners and wild-card teams are seeded based on total points accumulated during the regular season.

Three past Texas League Play champions claimed spots in the 16-team bracket: DeCordova Bend Country Club (2007, 2008, 2018, 2023, 2024), Tierra Verde Golf Club (2013, 2014, 2015) and Odessa Country Club (2019, 2022).

First-round matches are scheduled for May 28, the Quarterfinal on May 29, Semi-Final and Championship Matches on May 30.

Live scoring updates will be available on the TGA website throughout the event. A recap will be released at the conclusion of the event.
