The Texas Golf Hall of Fame is celebrating the 50th anniversary of Sandra Haynie’s remarkable victory at the 1974 U.S. Women’s Open. Haynie, who currently serves as a special advisor to the TGA, carded a 72-hole total of 295 (+7) at La Grange Country Club, located southwest of Chicago, to win the 1974 championship by one stroke over Beth Stone and fellow Texas Golf Hall of Famer Carol Mann. It was one of the many extraordinary accomplishments in Haynie’s illustrious career, who has also been inducted into the LPGA Hall of Fame and World Golf Hall of Fame.
