Texas Father-Son Round Two Recap

Mansfield – After another successful day of the Texas Father-Son, Patrick and Jackson Powers improve their total score to 10 under par and now sit atop of the Championship Division leaderboard. Within striking distance are John Ironside and Drew Ironside one off the lead and Team Jones’s Avery and Marcus who sit two just strokes back.

Jackson Powers again showed he is the backbone to this team by taking all but 3 of his scores to count towards their Round 2 score of 4-under-par. Team Powers faced difficulty in not getting to start their round until after the weather delay. This, however, did not stop them from matching the low round of the day while posting six birdies. Entering the final round they have established themselves as the team to catch.

John and Drew Ironside got off to a slow start shooting even-par through their first nine holes. In those nine they had one birdie and one bogey demonstrating consistency, however, with the four-ball format, sub-par rounds are essential to staying on top of the leaderboard. Diving into the team’s back nine, they were able to add four birdies with a bogey giving them a Round 2 score of 3-under-par.

Marcus and Avery Jones currently sit in solo third place with eyes on the top spot sitting only two off the lead, same as yesterday. Team Jones offset three carded bogeys with seven total birdies allowing for a productive 4-under-par on the day.
