Big things start in Texas – and this one will shape the future of golf for years to come.
The Texas Golf Association has just announced theestablishment of Team Texas — part of the USGA’s U.S. National Development Program (USNDP), created to identify, develop, and elevate the nation’s most promising junior golfers.
This marks one of the most significant steps forward for Texas junior golf in decades and establishes a clear, connected pathway for our state’s best young players to compete, grow, and chase their dreams on the national and international stage.
One Team, One Mission
Team Texas will bring together 20 of the state’s most accomplished junior golfers, 10 boys and 10 girls, beginning in 2027. Selections will be based on performance, rankings, and a holistic approach to player development that emphasizes not only skill, but also character, discipline, and heart.
A Team Texas Committee composed of representatives from the TGA and the Northern and Southern Texas PGA Sections will oversee selection criteria and programming to ensure the full strength of the Texas golf community is behind every player.
