Shiv Parmar Wins Texas Cup Invitational
BROOKELAND – Shiv Parmar of Selma, Texas wins the 2025 Texas Cup Invitational at Rayburn Resort after finishing with a 9-under 201 for the tournament.
Parmar completed the trifecta with a third consecutive round of 3-under 67, to win by four strokes. He got his round going early with five birdies on his opening nine to shoot 29 and turn with a four-stroke lead over the field. After another birdie on the par 5 No. 10, Parmar extended his lead to six strokes. With the wind picking up on the back nine, he would go to make three bogeys and decrease his lead back to four strokes over the field. Gathering himself and showcasing his mental game, he would go on to par his last two holes and win the Texas Cup.
Parmar, who is familiar with winning and finding himself at the top of LJT leaderboards, claims his second LJT Major with this win. His first major win came last year when he won the 98th Texas Junior Amateur at White Bluff Resort on the New Course.
With the win, he looks to continue his great play into the Veritex Bank Byron Nelson Junior Championship at Lakewood Country Club, which is the second boys-only major on the LJT schedule. “I I’m hoping to play good there and win that one. That would be great,” the Texas A&M commit said.
Finishing runner-up was round one co-leader Coltrane Mittag of Ashland, Nebraska. The Oklahoma commit shot rounds of 67-68-70 to finish with a tournament total of 5-under 205.
Noah Chauvin of Broussard, Louisiana, finished in third place with a tournament score of 206, 4-under par. The Cajun propelled himself up the leaderboard with a tournament low 5-under 65 in Wednesday’s final round. With his third-place finish, Chauvin earned himself an exemption into the Veritex Bank Byron Nelson Junior Championship and the 99th Texas Junior Amateur.
Dallas’ Spencer Carter and Houston’s Mason An tied for fourth after a 2-under tournament total of 208. An, who is a 2028 high school graduate, co-led through 36-holes before today’s final round.
Shiv Parmar earned 2000 points in the Player of the Year Point Race. Points are awarded at each tournament to the top half of each age division. For more Player of the Year Points information, click here.
Wednesday’s final round featured sunny skies once again with a high of 80 degrees as players started to finish their rounds. The wind picked for the first time during the championship challenging the players as they tried to navigate the course facing different wind directions throughout. The field felt sustained wind speeds of 16 mph with gusts up to 28 mph.
Nestled in the hills surrounding Lake Sam Rayburn, Rayburn Resort is a hidden gem. The 18-hole course features 150 feet of elevation change, along with new greens, tees, bunkers, and fairways designed to challenge golfers of all skill levels.
The front nine was designed in 1968 by Jay Riviere, known for contributions on the restoration of Memorial Park Golf Course, Jackrabbit Course at Champions Golf Club, and the design of Panorma Golf Club. This stretch features only one hole with water but compensates with tree lined fairways and strategically placed bunkering around the greens.
The back nine was designed by world-renowned golf course architect Robert Trent Jones, whose portfolio includes Shady Oaks Country Club, the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, the Olympic Club Lake Course, and West Point Golf Course. This section of the course is characterized by four dog-leg holes and a tighter layout than the front nine.
The Texas Cup Invitational was the first of two boys-only majors on the LJT schedule. The Veritex Bank Byron Nelson Junior Championship is the second one and will be played on June 3-5 at Lakewood Country Club in Dallas.
