Golf Course: Comanche Trace is a sprawling 27-hole complex set amid 1,300 acres overlooking the Guadalupe River in the heart of the Texas Hill Country. Of the three nines at Comanche Trace, the Texas Father-Son will be contested on the Hills and Valley Courses. These two nines comprise the original 18 holes at Comanche Trace and were designed by World Golf Hall of Fame member Tom Kite, along with Roy Bechtol and Randy Russell. The Creeks nine, added in 2008, was designed by the father-son team of Jay and Carter Morrish.
Weather: Mostly sunny, high in the mid-90s with a slight breeze out of the north.
In contention: Juan Salcedo and Juan Salcedo Signoret finished the day with one eagle on the 18th hole and six birdies to end with an 8-under par 64 at Comanche Trace. The four teams tied at 7-under par 65: Nathan Haley/Jeff Haley, Steve Gill/Brett Gill, John Stollenwerck/John Stollenwerck Jr. and Dean Brown/Cameron Brown. The Browns are two-time defending champions of The Texas Father-Son.
A memorable shot occurred for Larry Caraway Jr. as he made his first hole in one during today’s round on the 17th hole (#8 of the Hills Course) from 165 yards away with a 6 iron.
Net Division Update: Marc and Mason Nelson lead the Hogan Flight carding a net score of 64 with Cullen and Brannon Smith one stroke back with a score of 65. The Nelson Flight is led by Darrell and Tim Bowe with an end of day score of 57 with Garrett and Shane Hogan following with a net score of 63. Father and son duo, Ken and Jackson Sampson lead the Crenshaw Flight with a net score of 63 with Christopher and Paul Divis three strokes back carding a 66.
Larry and Larry Caraway Jr. lead the Kite Flight with a score of 63 and they are followed by Robert and Tyler Cloud who carded a net score of 65.
What’s Next: Round 2 will begin at 7:30 AM for the Championship Division and the Net Flights will begin at 12:40 PM off both No. 1 & 10 tees.
