World Golf Hall of Famer Judy Rankin Joins Breaking 100 Panel at Nov. 1 Gala
DALLAS—The lineup of guest star panelists for the TGA’s Nov. 1 Breaking 100 Gala at Houston Country Club became even more impressive earlier this week when World Golf Hall of Fame member Judy Rankin agreed to join the festivities.
Rankin, a 26-time LPGA Tour winner and two-time Player of the Year, will join icons of the game Sandra Haynie, Carol Mann, Sandra Palmer and Kathy Whitworth in a unique question-and-answer format moderated by Deb Vangellow, the LPGA Teachers & Club Professionals National President. A longtime resident of Midland, Rankin since 2010 has been the lead LPGA analyst for the Golf Channel. Rankin retired from competitive golf in in 1983 and went on to captain two Solhiem Cup teams to victory in 1996 and ’98. In 2002, she received the Bob Jones Award, the highest recognition given by the USGA for distinguished sportsmanship in golf.
The Breaking 100 Gala is the culmination of a yearlong campaign to celebrate the 100th year of Women’s Golf in Texas. To watch a video preview of the Breaking 100 Gala, click here. Several other Breaking 100 programs were incorporated throughout the year such as “100 Holes of Women’s Competitions,” “100 Lessons for Women and Girls” and the popular “100 Texas Women” blog.
All proceeds from both the Gala and Breaking 100 programs benefit the TGA Foundation’s Women’s Initiatives, which help fund junior girls’ golf development programs that promote the progression from beginning golfer to competitive golfer to college student.
Individual tickets for the Breaking 100 Gala are $200, and reserved tables for eight are $2,000 and include an autographed Breaking 100 flag.
