Play Set to Begin at The Women’s Stroke Play Championship
HOUSTON- The 2016 Women’s Stroke Play Championship will begin tomorrow, June 24, at Pine Forest Country Club.
The field is set at 66 players including 2015 WTGA State Amateur Champion Annika Clark of Highlands and 2015 Women’s Stroke Play Runner-Up Megan Thothong of Dallas.
The course is in great shape and it looks to be a succesful weekend of competitive golf at Pine Forest.
Tee times start at 8 a.m. on holes 1 and 10.
This is the third tournament the WTGA has hosted this year. They continue to celebrate their 100-year-old history with the “Breaking 100” campaign. This includes a fundraising campaign featuring five players who have decided to take the challenge and play the “100 holes of Women’s Competition”. The proceeds will go to the TGA Foundation’s Women’s Initiatives.
One player who has taken the pledge is playing in this week’s tournament. Karen Northcutt is in the field and has already completed 36 holes of her pledged 100 when she competed in this year’s Eclectic. She is on pace to get 54 holes after this week’s play.
