Livingston and Trichell Win 12th Women’s Texas Pinehurst

Briefly: New Braunfels’ Patthawan Livingston and Helotes’ Tammy Trichell carded rounds of 78-72 for a tournament total of 150 to win the 12th Women’s Texas Pinehurst by two strokes at Wichita Falls Country Club. Livingston and Trichell credit their teamwork for allowing them to win as a team in this event for the first time.

Following Monday’s round, the team of Livingston and Trichell trailed the leaders by four strokes. The duo began their final round perfectly with eight straight pars starting on hole five. They followed their impressive start with back-to-back birdies on the first and second hole propelling them to their victory. The pair captured their victory with a final round score of 1 over 72.

Golf Course: Wichita Falls Country Club was constructed in 1914. The course winds through beautiful parkland terrain unique to the Wichita Falls area. The course was completely renovated and redesigned in 2008 by D. A. Weibring and Steve Wolfard. Known for designing beautiful yet challenging golf courses, Weibring and Wolfard did not disappoint with his design of WFCC. With five sets of tees to choose from, players of all skill levels can enjoy this great golf course.

Weather: Monday’s round provided clear skies with temperatures remaining in the mid to low 70s with little to no wind. A perfect day in Wichita Falls. Tuesday’s final round was a beautiful day as well with a early morning low of 48 and a high of 73 degrees. The wind picked up Tuesday blowing around 12 mph with gusts up to 25 mph making conditions tougher.

In Contention: In the First Flight, the team of Elizabeth Scaggs and Carol Turnage tied for first with the duo of Sally Bowman and Lee Ann Penick. On Monday, Scaggs and Turnage turned in a first round 74, enough to tie for the first-round lead. They were able to follow that up with a round of 78 including two birdies for a total of 152. Bowman and Penick shot rounds of 75 and 77 to match the two-day total of 152. Bowman and Penick had a steady final round carding 12 pars on the day. Both teams will claim the title of the first flight in this year’s addition of the Women’s Texas Pinehurst.

In the second flight, Dallas’ Mara Neal and Richardson’s Jackie LaFollette won by two strokes with rounds of 81-88 for a tournament total of 169. Neal and LaFollette were able to hold on to their three stroke first round lead with an 88 on a windy final round.

In the Third Flight, the team of Kimberly Anne Maloney of Cedar Park and Crystal Cross of Amarillo finished in first place with scores of 93-90. The duo put up a solo birdie on Tuesday against challenging wind conditions to help them win by one stroke.

Player of the Year: Player of the Year points will be awarded to the top 5 teams in the Women’s Texas Pinehurst.
