Legends Junior Tour Spring Preview Set to Take Place at Rayburn Resort

The Legends Junior Tour will travel to Rayburn Resort in Brookeland for the next event of its 2026 season, the Spring Preview, scheduled for Feb. 28–March 1.

“We are looking forward to being back at Rayburn Resort,” Tournament Manager Preston Vinzant said. “They hosted our Texas Cup Invitational last season and were phenomenal hosts. Their membership and staff are some of the best in the state.”

The Spring Preview falls between two major championships on the Legends Junior Tour schedule and serves as an early-season test as players move deeper into their high school campaigns and prepare for the tour’s first Invitational of the year.

“Our girls are coming out of the Texas Girls’ Invitational, and our boys are preparing for their first major, the Texas Cup Invitational,” Vinzant said. “This tournament is a good measure of where everyone’s game stands early in the year and a chance to earn important exemptions and Player of the Year points.”

Nestled in the rolling hills near Lake Sam Rayburn, Rayburn Resort Country Club features 27 holes and nearly 150 feet of elevation change. The course has undergone recent enhancements, including new greens, tees and bunkers, along with renovated fairways designed to challenge players of all skill levels. The layout includes three distinct nine-hole courses.

The original nine, designed in 1968 by architect Jay Riviere, features wide fairways, bunkers on every hole and nearly 47,700 square feet of greens. Water comes into play on one signature hole. The second nine, designed in 1972 by Robert Trent Jones, offers generous landing areas off the tee but requires precision on approach shots. With four doglegs, tighter fairways and six elevated greens totaling 52,700 square feet, it presents a more technical test.

“The course is in great shape and will be a good test for the players,” Vinzant said. “You’re going to have to be accurate off the tee with trees lining the fairways. If not, it will challenge you to get up and down. Players will need to think through every shot.”

Several key exemptions are on the line.

The Boys Division champion and the top three finishers will earn exemptions into the 2026 Texas Cup Invitational and Bluebonnet Championship. The champion also will receive exemptions into the 27th Huntington Bank Byron Nelson Junior Championship, the 100th Texas Junior Amateur presented by Edwin Watts Golf Shops, the 2026 George Hannon Junior Invitational and the 2026 TJGA Invitational.

In the Girls Division, the champion and top three finishers will earn exemptions into the 2026 Bluebonnet Championship. The champion also will receive exemptions into the 100th Texas Junior Amateur presented by Edwin Watts Golf Shops, the 2026 George Hannon Junior Invitational, the 2026 TJGA Invitational and the 18th Texas Girls’ Invitational in 2027 at Bentwater Yacht & Country Club.

The Boys 14-and-Under Division champion will earn exemptions into the 2026 Bluebonnet Championship, the 2026 George Hannon Junior Invitational, the 2026 TJGA Invitational and the 100th Texas Junior Amateur presented by Edwin Watts Golf Shops.

At last year’s Spring Preview at Cleburne Golf Links, Henry Jackson of Lantana captured the Boys Division title with rounds of 69-69 for a 6-under-par total, finishing three strokes ahead of the field. It marked his lone victory of the 2025 season, during which he added two more Top 10 finishes.

Kaylee Yuan of Joshua won the Girls Division with rounds of 67-73 for a 4-under total, securing her only Legends Junior Tour victory of 2025 after previously claiming four tour titles in her 2024 season.

Isiah Diaz of Del Rio claimed the Boys 14-and-Under Division title with rounds of 67-74 for a 3-under total, winning by one stroke. The 2025 Jackie Burke Cup South Team representative added the Spring Preview to a season that included five victories.

The Legends Junior Tour operates under the Texas Junior Golf Alliance, a partnership among the Texas Golf Association, Northern Texas PGA and Southern Texas PGA, providing a developmental pathway for junior golfers statewide.

Round 1 of the Spring Preview begins at 8 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, off Nos. 1 and 10.
