ADDISON — The Legends Junior Tour is heading back to Brownwood Country Club for the 24th edition of the Bluebonnet Championship, set for May 3-4. The invitational will showcase some of the top junior golfers from across Texas and surrounding states.
“It’s always great to return to Brownwood Country Club for the Bluebonnet Championship,” Tournament Director Adam Schulte said. “This tournament has a rich history, and the players love competing here. When they’re excited to play, it makes the event even more special.”
Founded in 2002 by local businessman Bart Johnson, the Bluebonnet Championship has been held annually at Brownwood Country Club. This year’s Bluebonnet Championship marks the Legends Junior Tour’s first event in over a month, kicking off what promises to be an action-packed summer schedule.
“It’s awesome to see familiar faces again after the break,” Schulte said. “We’re so used to seeing these players week after week during the season—it’s great to reconnect before the summer ramps up.”
Nestled in the scenic heart of Central Texas, the course delivers both charm and challenge. Designed in 1970 by renowned architect Leon Howard, the 18-hole layout plays at 6,547 yards with a par of 72, a course rating of 72, and a slope of 123. From lush fairways to fast greens, players can expect a true test of precision and poise.
Last year’s tournament saw standout performances across the board. Jackson Hymer of San Antonio lit up the leaderboard in the Boys 15-18 Division with rounds of 65-64 for a blistering 15-under total, claiming a three-stroke victory. In the Boys 14 & Under Division, JP Lynch of Austin continued a stellar year, finishing 3-under with rounds of 71-70 to notch another win. On the girls’ side, Adrienne Ahn of Dallas returned to the winner’s circle on the Legends Junior Tour, carding a 74-69 for a 1-under total and the title in the Girls 12-18 Division.
