Legends Junior Tour Bluebonnet Championship Set for May 4-5

ADDISON – Over a month after the last Legends Junior Tour Event, the Bluebonnet Championship is set for May 4-5. The 23rd Edition of the tournament will head back to Brownwood Country Club for one of the favorite tournaments of the year for the players.

“We can’t wait to head back to Brownwood Country Club for another year of this great championship,” shared Tournament Director Adam Schulte. “The kids always share that this is one of their favorite tournaments and we see a great turnout year after year. The staff at Brownwood Country Club love having this tournament and we can’t thank them enough for hosting.”

The Bluebonnet Championship was started by local businessman Bart Johnson in 2002 and has been played at Brownwood Country Club since its inception. The par-72 course was designed by Leon Howard and opened in 1929. It features bentgrass greens and wide fairways that give players ample opportunities for low scores. It also showcases many scenic views on hilltops throughout the course. The 36-hole championship features three separate divisions: Boys 15-18, Girls 12-18, and Boys 14 & Under.

Last year’s championship saw Nathan Miller win the Boys 15-18 Division after a 9-under 135 in the tournament. Miller had a stretch of 3 birdies and an eagle in his last five holes that launched him up the leaderboard and into first place. Henry Jackson won the Boys 14 & Under Division after finishing 1-under 143 which sent him into a playoff with Aadi Parmar. Jackson would go on to win the first playoff hole with a birdie. Shyla Brown won the girls 12-18 Division after shooting 2-under 142. Brown was recently announced as one of 10 girls who made the first U.S. Junior National Team as part of the U.S. National Development Program with the USGA.

Names like Scottie Scheffler, Pierceson Coody, Matthew Comegys, Cole Hammer, Hailee Cooper, Farah O’Keefe, Shyla Brown and others have written their name into Bluebonnet Championship history and the 2024 winners look to do the same.
