
Lee, Frazier, and Babb Win at the LJT Lanny Wadkins Junior Championship
Briefly: Ryan Lee of College Station, came back in the final round after being one stroke off the lead to win the Boys Division of the Lanny Wadkins Junior Championship after shooting a 5-under par 66 at the Golf Club at Texas A&M. Jacob Babb of Mansfield gained the win after a great 3-underpar 68 to take the sole lead after sharing the lead with Cole Murphy. Finally, Ava Frazier of Austin secured the win after being one-stroke back with a solid 2-under par 69.
Champions: College Station’sRyan Lee entered Tuesday’s final round one-stroke behind round one leader, Amarillo’s Madden Myers. Lee was able to take advantage of his home course and take the lead after shooting a fantastic 5-under par 66. Lee finished the day bogey free and had 5-birdies securing the championship.
Ava Frazier won the Girls Division with rounds of 74-69, finishing at one-over par. She started the final round one stroke behind Jacqueline Zhuang. Frazier and Zhuang battled it out, but Frazier then took the lead with three birdies and one bogey for a 2-under 69, besting Zhuang by two strokes.
Jacob Babb of Mansfield won the Boys 14 & Under Division after carding a 3-under 68 in the final round. Entering the day tied for the lead with Gunter’s Cole Murphy, Babb made five birdies and two bogeys to finish the week at 6-under 136 to secure the championship.
Top Finishers: Amarillo’s Madden Myers entered the final round leading the Boys Division. Lee and Myers battled throughout the day, but Myers ultimately finished second with a 2-under 69, while Lee closed with a 5-under 66. Cameron Van Horn of Mabank climbed from T11 to third after firing a 4-under 67, finishing the week with rounds of 71-67 for a 138 total.
In the Girls Division, Jacqueline Zhuang finished second after a 1-over 72 brought her total to 3-over 145. Austin’s Emmy Yang and Katy’s Lora Kim tied for third, each with an even-par 71 to finish the week at 5-over 147.
In the Boys 14 & Under Division, Gunter’s Cole Murphy finished second after a 1-under 70, closing the week with rounds of 68-70 and ending two strokes behind Jacob Babb. Leander’s Trevor Lane remained in third with another 1-under 70, finishing at 2-under with rounds of 70-70.
Host Club: Opened in 1951, Golf Club of Texas A&M serves as the university’s campus course. Designed by Ralph Plummer, known for his work at Colonial Country Club, Champions Golf Club, and Dallas Athletic Club, the course has been a fixture in College Station for over 60 years. A comprehensive renovation by Texas A&M alum Jeff Blume in 2013 enhanced the course, which now spans just over 7,000 yards and poses challenges for even elite golfers.
Weather: Tuesday’s final round began in the high 70s under partly cloudy skies before temperatures climbed quickly into the upper 90s by the end of play, with the heat index reaching into the 100s. Southern winds remained between 10-15 mph.
Tournament Format: The Lanny Wadkins Junior Championship is a 36-hole stroke play event for players 12-18 years old. All players in the field are required to have active membership with the Texas Junior Golf Alliance.

Tournament Exemptions: In the Boys Division, the champion has received an exemption into the Hannon – Fields Invitational, Texas Junior Golf Alliance Invitational, 2027 Bluebonnet Championship, 2027 Byron Nelson Jr Championship, while the top 3 have earned a spot in the 101st Texas Junior Amateur presented by Edwin Watts Golf. In the Girls Division, the Champion has earned exemptions into the Hannon- Fields Junior Invitational, Texas Junior Golf Alliance Invitational, 2027 Texas Girls Invitational and 2027 Bluebonnet Championship. The champion of the Boys 14 and Under division has earned exemptions into the Hannon Fields Junior Invitational, Texas Junior Golf Alliance Invitational and 2027 Bluebonnet Championship and 101st Texas Junior Amateur.
