Every golfer should know the Rules of Golf, no matter whether they are just getting started in the game or play at the elite level. With that goal in mind, the USGA has created a free online course to help all golfers become familiar with the basics of the Rules.

It’s called Rules 101 and it’s the perfect place to build your confidence with the Rules where you can learn in a relaxed, interactive manner and at your own pace. Upon completion of this course, you’ll have a solid foundational knowledge of the Rules and be equipped to navigate the most common situations you face during a round.

Rules 101 focuses on the playing Rules, especially those used or encountered most frequently by golfers. This course is appropriate not only for those new to the game or new to the Rules, but also for nearly anyone who needs a refresher on the basics or doesn’t already have advanced knowledge of the Rules.

To access this course, you will be prompted to create a free account (or login to an existing USGA account in the system). This is required to capture and store your progress through the course.
