Lamey and Cunov Lead After Round 1 of Texas Stableford Handicap

KERRVILLE – John Lamey of San Antonio and Kurt Cunov of Shavano Park have the lead after the first round of play at the 2020 Texas Stableford Handicap at Riverhill Country Club.  Lamey and Cunov carded 79 points, eight over their first round quota.

Combined, the duo holed 10 birdies and 15 par-saves, placing them at the top of field, along with the Hogan flight, before Saturday’s second round.

Golf Course: Designed by close friends Joe Finger and Byron Nelson in 1974, Riverhill Country Club’s 18-hole course is a premier location for golf in Texas and the United States.  Based in the heart of Hill Country, the course boasts its rare bent-grass greens and a 7,137 yard, 72-par challenge featuring scenic creeks, hills and a lake throughout the property.  Over time, the course became Nelson’s favorite, where he was quoted saying, “If I had only one golf course to play, it would be Riverhill.”

Weather: Sunny, high of 79 degrees with a southerly wind that averaged at 12 mph. Gusts reached as high as 20 mph.

In Contention: Following the leaders are Trey Rowe of Argyle and Randy Mattingley of Flower Mound.  The men carded 68 points, five over their first round quota.  Rowe and Mattingley lead the Nelson flight.

In the Kite flight, David Bosco of Cooper Canyon and Travis Yarbough of Crowley finished the round with 49 points and hit their quota on the number.

In the Crenshaw flight, Mark Moore and Michael Mowles of Fort Worth finished the round with 57 points, one point under their first round quota.

What’s Next: Round 2 tee times begin Saturday morning at 8:00 a.m. off No. 1 & 10 tees at Riverhill Country Club.
