The TGA is saddened to report on the loss of Timothy Gamso of Dallas. Gamso passed away on Dec. 2 at the age of 69.

Gamso had a tremendous involvement in the game of golf through his years as a player, volunteer, and advocate. He was a long-standing volunteer Rules Official for the TGA and USGA, and had been in charge of running USGA qualifiers in the Dallas-Fort Worth area for many years. He also served as a USGA committee member and in 2015 was presented with the USGA’s Issac B. Grainger Award, which recognizes those volunteers who have reached 25 years of service to the Association.

As a competitor, Gamso played in the U.S. Amateur, U.S. Mid-Amateur, British Amateur, and British Mid-Amateur. He won five club championship titles while he was at Dallas Athletic Club, then won three more club championship trophies as a member of Dallas Country Club.

Additionally, Gamso was actively involved in the Salesmanship Club of Dallas, the host organization of the PGA Tour’s CJ CUP Byron Nelson, and was an ardent supporter of First Tee – Greater Dallas.
