DALLAS – Brandon Hoff made the turn at 3-over in the second round of the Byron Nelson Junior Championship at Lakewood Country Club. With the help of his brother, who is caddying for him this week, Hoff finished with a 1-under 70. He is 5-under for the tournament.

After three-putting three times on the front nine, Hoff was finally able to match up his speed with his line when he made a 50-foot birdie putt on hole 14. This got the ball rolling for the future Baylor Bear as he went on to make three more birdies on holes 15-17.

“I’ve struggled in the past and one thing that I try to do is never quit. It’s kind of my family motto. I knew there were plenty of holes left to make it up,” said Hoff.

Round 1 co-leader, Jansen Smith, is only one shot behind Hoff after a 1-over 72 in the second round. Smith also fought back by going 2-under in his last 10 holes. Parker Coody, Cole Sherwood, and Pierceson Coody are all sitting at 3-under for the tournament.

The field is cut to the low 30 and ties after the end of round two. The cut was at 6-over 148. Thirty-four players will be teeing it up in the final round of the Byron Nelson Junior Championship.

Cody Winkler had the low round of the day at 4-under. Andre Jacobs was one behind at 3-under for the day.

The Byron Nelson Junior Championship is being played at Lakewood Country Club for the 11thtime in the last 13 years. The course was designed by Scotsman Tom Bendlow in 1912 and was Dallas’ second 18-hole course. The layout was redesigned in 1947 by Texas native, Ralph Plummer. The team of Ben Crenshaw and Bill Coore completed a few more adjustments from 1995-2014. Lakewood was the memorable host venue for last summer’s 108th Texas Amateur Championship.
