Flodder Financial Shootout Moves to Golf Club at Cinco Ranch
DALLAS- The Legends Junior Tour’s Flodder Financial Shootout, which features a field of 84 players competing in three age division, moves to Golf Club at Cinco Ranch in Katy, Texas on July 11-12.
The Flodder Financial Shootout will be the eighth event on the LJT schedule thus far in 2016 and the last event before the 90th Texas State Junior Championship at The Woodlands Country Club.
Kyle Flodder, a competitor in more than 30 Texas Golf Association tournaments, is the proud sponsor of this tournament. Flodder signed a letter of intent to play golf at the University of Tennessee, but then changed his mind to attend Texas Christian University. He would go on to get his MBA from Harvard Business School. He now works with his father, Steven, at the Flodder Financial Group.
The 84-player field will be split into three divisions, Boys 15-18, Girls 12-18, and Boys 14 & Under. Players will compete in 36 holes of stroke play competition in all three divisions with future LJT Exemptions up for grabs as well as AJGA Performance Stars.
The winner of the Flodder Financial Shootout Boys 15-18 Division will earn an exemption into the 90th Texas State Junior Championship, the George Hannon Junior Invitational, the Texas Cup Invitational and the 2017 Byron Nelson Junior Championship.
In the Girls 12-18 Division, the top three finishers will earn spots in the Texas Girls’ Invitational, while the winner becomes exempt into the George Hannon Junior Invitational. The champion of the Boys 14 & Under Division will also earn an exemption into the George Hannon Junior Invitational.
Houston’s Travis Vick won last year’s event with an overall score of 6-under 138 in the Boys 15-18 Division. Vick posted a final-round score of 5-under 67 to win by three strokes at Meadowbrook Farms Golf Club. Dallas’ Scott Roden edged out William Moll to win the Boys 14 & Under Division last year by one stroke, while Marble Falls’ Macy Fox won the Girls 12-18 Division in a playoff.
Golf Club at Cinco Ranch is nestled just to the west of downtown Houston and offers 18 holes designed by Carlton Gibson. Cinco Ranch has more than 50 bunkers spread throughout its layout along with water hazards on 16 holes.
