One of the goals of the TGA Foundation is to provide young people from different backgrounds with an introduction to the vast network of jobs, mentors, and interests that the golf community provides.
Now in its ninth year, the Bill Penn Internship Program is a paid summer internship that connects diverse high school students with positions at TGA member clubs in their area. Interns are assigned a rotating schedule over the course of the approximately 10-week program providing them with opportunities to be exposed to various areas of club operations.
The Bill Penn Internship can have a life-changing impact on both young people and the clubs that invest in them. By working closely with professional club management and staff, interns learn the importance of teamwork, gain self-confidence, develop positive skill sets, and discover firsthand the wide variety of rewarding career paths the golf industry can provide for them in the future. TGA clubs have the opportunity to support their local communities and benefit from interns who are motivated to contribute and succeed in their positions.
