Administration Updates

Communication leading up to and during Texas Golf Association Championships will be sent exclusively through Golf Genius beginning in 2025. The emails will be sent from a “noreply@golfgenius.com” account but curated by staff onsite to relay information such as Player Information Packets, Pace of Play, Starting Times, Leaderboards and relevant information once the TGA is onsite. If you struggle to see emails leading up to an event, please reach out to the Staff in Charge of that event, which can be found on the specific Tournament Home Page at www.txga.org.

Information on how to schedule a Practice Round tee time for events will be shared on the Tournament Home Page and in the Player Information Packet sent out before. For events that include a practice round in the entry fee, players will be instructed to schedule a time through the TGA Golf Genius portal in lieu of contacting the club leading up to the event. For events that don’t include a practice round in the entry fee, the TGA will work with the host club to secure a window and discounted rate for the players. Any round outside of the window provided is subject to the club’s guest policies, fees and availability.

USGA Updates

The USGA has moved the qualifying process for the U.S. Senior Open to a two-stage model, similar to the U.S. Open and U.S. Amateur. The TGA will host three qualifiers in 2025. The two Local Qualifiers will be held at Meadowbrook Farms Golf Club on April 14 and Cleburne Golf Links on May 1. The Final Qualifier will be held at Golfcrest Country Club on Monday, May 19. Players will register through the USGA webpage.

The state of Texas will be hosting two USGA National Championships in 2025 and the Association looks forward to working with its fellow golf administrators to put on a great show. These clubs have been staunch supporters of the Texas Golf Association and promoted amateur golf and are deserving of this prestigious spotlight.

The first USGA Championship in Texas will be the U.S. Junior Amateur at Trinity Forest Golf Club and Brook Hollow Golf Club on July 21-26. Trinity Forest most recently hosted the TGA’s Texas Amateur, which was won by Reese Roberts in 2024. Along with that event Trinity Forest hosted the Texas Mid-Amateur Match Play in 2021. Brook Hollow most recently hosted the TGA’s Women’s Texas Amateur, which was won by Grace Choi in 2016. The club has hosted the Texas Amateur nine times in the event’s history, with the most recent being in 2014, when Will Zalatoris won.

The second USGA Championship in Texas will be the U.S. Senior Amateur at Oak Hills Country Club on August 23-28. Oak Hills most recently hosted the TGA’s Texas Mid-Amateur, which was won by Ryan O’Rear in 2020. The San Antonio club boasts a stellar list of past Texas Amateur Champions which includes Ben Crenshaw (1972), Charles Coody (1959), Morris Williams Jr. (1950) and Fred Wedel (2016).
