Atkinson shoots 67 to take solo lead at the North Mid-Amateur Championship

Trophy Club- Zach Atkinson vaults to the top of the leaderboard with a 2nd round score of 67 for a two day total of 138 at the 2015 North Mid-Amateur Championship presented UST Mamiya. Joshua Irving and Brandon Scott are tied in second with a total of 142 to remain just four back.

Zach Atkinson may have gotten off to a slow start with a double bogey on the Par 5 1st, but that didn’t stop a member of the winning USGA Men’s State Team from going low. Atkinson recorded six birdies and an eagle for the low round of the day. The two day total of 138 (six under par) gave him a solo lead at the conclusion of the 2nd round.

Brandon Scott, of Trophy Club, remained consistent adding another one under par day to match his first round score of 71. The 142 total has Scott in a tie for second place with Irving. Scott was two under on the day before he ran into the 411 yard, Par 4, 7th. He is still lone atop among Super Mid-Amateurs. Bill Steen of Frisco is just four back and will be in the group in front of Scott.

Round 1 leader Joshua Irving posted a three over par, 75, to bring his two day total to 142. Irving bounced back after a tough front nine with two birdies in his last three holes. Just four back of Atkinson, he remains within striking distance.

Atkinson will look to defend his lead as he, Irving and Scott will tee off of the first tee at 9:57. Final round tee times will once again begin off the 1st and 10th tee starting at 8:00am.
