Alamo Shootout to close 2025 LJT Season at Flying L Ranch Resort and GC
The 2025 Legends Junior Tour season will conclude with the Alamo Shootout, set for Dec. 6–7 at Flying L Ranch in Bandera.
“We are excited to be heading to Flying L Ranch for this year’s Alamo Shootout,” Texas Golf Association Tournament Coordinator Tyler Clarke said. “The venue has been a great host for TGA events, and now we get to bring the best junior players in Texas and surrounding states to the course.”
Nestled in the heart of the Texas Hill Country, Flying L Ranch Resort & Golf Course offers a scenic and challenging layout stretching 6,646 yards from the back tees. The course winds through elevation changes and towering oak trees, with rolling hills providing a striking backdrop.
Designed to test experienced golfers while remaining accessible for newcomers, the course features generous fairways, well-maintained greens and memorable views on every hole. Thanks to the region’s mild weather, Flying L Ranch offers year-round playability and remains a popular destination for golfers statewide.
A notable feature of the property is its 19th hole, a par-3 bonus hole located between Nos. 1 and 9. Commonly used for tournament tiebreakers and special events, it features a small green protected by a dramatic horseshoe-shaped bunker that covers nearly 70% of its surface.
“The course sets up great to bring the right amount of challenge for the players, while still making some holes gettable,” Clarke said.
The Alamo Shootout will feature two divisions — Boys and Girls — competing over 36 holes of stroke play in a field of 84 players.
The Boys Division champion will earn several key 2026 exemptions, including the Texas Cup Invitational, the 27th Huntington Bank Byron Nelson Junior Championship, the 100th Texas Junior Amateur, the Bluebonnet Championship, the George Hannon Junior Invitational presented by Texas Mutual and the Texas Junior Golf Alliance Invitational.
The Girls Division champion will receive exemptions into the Texas Girls’ Invitational, the Bluebonnet Championship, the 100th Texas Junior Amateur, the George Hannon Junior Invitational presented by Texas Mutual and the Texas Junior Golf Alliance Invitational.
At the 2024 Alamo Shootout at Olmos Basin in San Antonio, Daniel Ferguson of Duncanville won the Boys Division with rounds of 69–66 to finish 9 under, earning a four-stroke victory. Ferguson now competes for the Dallas Baptist University men’s golf team.
In the Girls Division, Sophia Ellestad of Houston secured the title with rounds of 73–71 to finish even par and win by one stroke. Ellestad now plays for the Oklahoma State University women’s golf team.
Round 1 of the 2025 Alamo Shootout will begin at 8 a.m. Dec. 6 off Nos. 1 and 10.
