Alamo Shootout Set for Dec. 9-10

ADDISON – The Alamo Shootout, the final event on the calendar for the 2023 Legends Junior Tour season, will be played at Olympia Hills Golf Club from Dec. 9-10. In its ninth playing, the only LJT championship played in the San Antonio area returned to the schedule in 2017 after a brief pause from 2012-2016.

“The Legends Junior Tour really benefits from having great junior golfers in every corner of the state and we’re excited to have our players at one of the best courses in the hill country,” LJT Tournament Manager Adam Schulte said. “Olympia Hills will be a challenge for our players, and the Alamo Shootout has touted a strong field each year since it first started.”

Last year, Lakeway’s Elijah Galvan carded back-to-back rounds of 3-under 69 to win the Boys Division at 6-under total. Galvan’s stellar play at Riverhill CC pushed him to the two shot victory. In the Girls Division, New Braunfels’ Presley Bolado captured the win behind rounds of 73-74 and finishing at 3-over for the tournament.

The 2024 field includes some of the top LJT players and will be divided into a Boys and Girls Division. Scheduled for 36-holes of individual stroke play, the 84-player field will look to earn exemptions into 2024 LJT championships.

“The LJT is excited to conclude another fantastic year of competitive golf at a great venue like Olympia Hills,” said Schulte. “We look forward to crowing our last champions of the year at the Alamo Shootout and are excited for a fun 2024 schedule.”

Olympia Hills will play host to the Alamo Shootout for the first time.  The 18-hole Finger, Dye, Spann Design Group layout features several tees, drastic elevation changes, natural undulating topography, and fantastic views. The course made its debut in February of 2000 and has maintained its reputation as a premiere, must-play golf course in the San Antonio area ever since.
