A Century in the Making: 100th Texas Junior Amateur presented by Edwin Watts Golf Shops Set for June 29 – July 1
The 100th Texas Junior Amateur presented by Edwin Watts Golf Shops is set for June 29–July 1 at Stonebriar Country Club in Frisco, as the centennial event looks to crown its milestone champion in one of the most anticipated junior golf championships in the state’s history.
“This is the event we have all been waiting for,” said Legends Junior Tour Tournament Director Scott Davidson. “The anticipation. The preparation. The leadup has all been building up to this special event and the milestone it is. We are so excited to kick off the centennial Texas Junior Amateur and what all it will provide.”
Over nearly a century of competition, the Texas Junior Amateur has produced numerous champions who went on to successful professional careers. Past winners include former world No. 1 and three-time major champion Jordan Spieth; two-time Masters champion Ben Crenshaw (1967, 1969); 13-time PGA Tour winner Bruce Lietzke (1968); five-time PGA Tour winner Scott Verplank (1981); and LPGA Tour major champion Angela Stanford (1996). The next name added to that list will join truly elite company.
This year’s field is among the strongest in recent memory. In the Boys Division, the headliners include:
- Brooks Harper, University of Texas golf commit, 27th Huntington Bank Byron Nelson Junior Championship champion and No. 36 in the Junior Golf Scoreboard rankings
- Aadi Parmar, Texas Tech University golf commit and No. 67 in the Junior Golf Scoreboard rankings
- Mackey Beckett, University of Michigan golf commit and No. 73 in the Junior Golf Scoreboard rankings
- Isaiah Igo, University of Oklahoma golf commit and No. 84 in the Junior Golf Scoreboard rankings
- Bennett Kuhns, Texas Christian University golf commit and No. 96 in the Junior Golf Scoreboard rankings
The Girls Division features an equally compelling group of competitors:
- Megan Lee, No. 63 in the Junior Golf Scoreboard rankings
- Eileen Lee, University of Illinois Women’s golf commit and No. 87 in the Junior Golf Scoreboard rankings
- Michelle Lee, 2025 Texas Girls’ Invitational champion and No. 141 in the Junior Golf Scoreboard rankings
- Dresden Bounds, Oklahoma State Women’s Golf Commit, 2026 Texas Girls’ Invitational champion and No. 148 in the Junior Golf Scoreboard rankings
- Quinn Timmerman, No. 187 in the Junior Golf Scoreboard rankings
This year’s champions will have the opportunity to etch their names into Texas Junior Amateur history while competing at one of the premier facilities in North Texas.
Stonebriar Country Club has been a fixture of the Frisco golf landscape since opening in 1988. As the city’s first private country club, Stonebriar has grown alongside one of the fastest-growing communities in the country, evolving from a single-course facility into a renowned 36-hole destination.
The club expanded in 2000 with the addition of a second championship layout designed by acclaimed architect Tom Fazio. Known for creating courses that complement their natural surroundings, Fazio crafted a layout featuring rolling terrain, strategic bunkering and picturesque vistas throughout — a test that challenges accomplished players while remaining enjoyable for golfers of all abilities.
Complementing the Fazio Course is the original Dye Course, designed by Joe Finger and Ken Dye. Since its opening, the course has served as the foundation of Stonebriar’s golfing tradition. Characterized by gently undulating fairways, well-protected greens and water features that come into play on several holes, the Dye Course continues to deliver a championship-caliber test and remains a favorite among members and visitors alike.
The Boys Division will compete on the Dye Course while the Girls’ Division, Boys 14 & Under and Girls 14 & Under Divisions will compete on the Fazio Course.
While the Boys and Girls Division will compete three total rounds for the event, the Boys and Girls 14 & Under Division will play two rounds have the champion crowned on Tuesday, June 30.
The championship’s growing stature extends well beyond Texas. For the third consecutive year, the Texas Junior Amateur has been recognized as an official USGA exemption event, further solidifying its place among the nation’s premier junior championships. Boys Division champions will earn an exemption into the 78th U.S. Junior Amateur at Saucon Valley Country Club, while Girls Division champions will receive an exemption into the 77th U.S. Girls’ Junior Amateur at Old Chatham Golf Club.
As part of the ongoing effort to elevate the championship experience, the final seven holes of both the Boys and Girls Division finals will be broadcast live. “Getting to broadcast the final round for the second consecutive year is amazing,” Davidson said. “Getting to experience it for the first time last year at Horseshoe Bay and seeing all the positivity that came out of it — to now getting to broadcast it again for the 100th — will be another treat. We always are looking to elevate the experience of our championships, and we believe this final round broadcast does just that.”
