(Kingwood, TX) – The second round of the State Four-Ball
Championship at Deerwood Club started out with four teams tied at the top of
the leaderboard in the Championship division but finished with Clarke Kincaid
and Brandon Scott standing alone in the number one spot. Jerry Hudgins and
Michael Rice pushed their way to the top of the Senior division with a strong
second round. Mike Arnold and Bob Hullender continued to build their lead in
the Super Senior division.
In the Championship
Division, Kincaid and Scott followed their strong first round 6-under par 66
with an even stronger second round, posting a 7-under par 65. The team of John
Bearrie and Aaron Hickman are currently tied for second but had a very
impressive round shooting 8-under par 64. Their card included nine birdies with
only one bogey. The teams of Jonathan Shipley/Jess Bonneau and Brain
Madison/Casey Holloman are also tied for second place and will look to make a
push to the top during tomorrow’s final round. The third round looks to be very
competitive with six groups within five strokes of Kincaid/Scott.
The team of Hudgins/Rice jumped to the top of the leaderboard
in the Senior Division after shooting 8-under par 64 in round two. Their 68 in
round one and 64 in round two puts them at a total of 12-under par 132. Mike
Booker of The Woodlands and Mike Peck of Irving led after round one but have
dropped back one position and currently sit in second.
In the Super Senior Division, Mike Arnold and Bob Hullender
of San Antonio have a comfortable lead of thirteen strokes over Dick Visser and
James Bushnell. Arnold/Hullender are looking to repeat as champions in their
respective division at the State Four-Ball Championship.
After the cut, only the top half of the field in each division
remains. With only eighteen more holes to play, Sunday looks to be exciting at
the beautiful Deerwood Club.
