Women’s Partnership Match Play Concludes at Walden on Lake Conroe
Briefly: After 54-holes of net four-ball match play, competition concluded this afternoon at Walden on Lake Conroe in the newly formatted Women’s Partnership Match Play. The field consisted of 45 teams of ladies hailing from all over the state of Texas. Teams were pre-flighted into flights of six based on the combined team handicap index. The full field began match play on Monday morning for the chance to advance to Tuesday’s semifinal round or to proceed to the consolation match play bracket.
Flights 1-6, Finals
In the first flight final match, the team of Midland’s Lettia Collins and The Woodlands Karen Northcutt defeated Corpus Christi’s Camm Dougherty and Horseshoe Bay’s Leslie McCallick 3 and 1. The duo defeated the No. 1 seed team of Malick and Schultz in Tuesday’s round of semifinal matches 3 and 2.
In the second flight final match, Kelly Campbell of Dallas and Lisa Papes of Allen defeated the fifth seed team of Betty Conklin and Violin Dupasquier both of Montgomery. In a tough match against the solo Dupasquier, Campbell and Papes pulled off a 6 and 5 victory.
In the third flight final match, the No. 8 seed of Angie Dusevic and Sara Devillers both from Houston defeated Tomball’s Suzzette Kirchner and Cypress’s Cynthia Birch 3 and 2. In Tuesday’s semifinal match, Dusevic and Devilliers battled it out against the team of Willis and Dillard in 20 holes.
In the fourth flight final match, Jill Rizzo of College Station and Xuesong Hollier of Tomball defeated DeSoto’s Charlene Wilson and Sondra Swan 1 up. On Tuesday, the pair defeated the No. 1 seed of Randleman and Bailey 3 and 2.
In the fifth flight final match, the No. 3 seed team of Magnolia’s Diane Gunn and Conroe’s Maede Miller defeated San Antonio’s Sheryl Redwine and Jean Reynolds 5 and 4. Gunn and Miller defeated Butler and Reaves 5 and 3 the day before.
In the sixth flight final match, Huntsville’s Bobbie Proctor and Beth Belovsky defeated the No. 4 of Mary Lynn Krauss and Virginia Edley both from Dallas. In Tuesday’s semifinal match, the duo defeated Rook and Jasien 4 and 3.

Consolation Flights 1-6, Finals
In the first flight consolation flight, Austin’s Lee Ann Penick and New Braunfels Patthawan Livingston defeated the team of Sonja Smith and Stefanie White 2 and 1. Penick and Livingston had a bye on Tuesday as the No. 1 seed.
In the second consolation flight, McKinney’s Amy Goodwin and Patricia Carnes defeated The Woodland’s Margaret Bosman and Montgomery’s Maura Price 4 and 2. Goodwin and Carnes had a bye in the first round of consolation match play.
In the third flight consolation match, Montgomery’s Sandra Ayers and Waco’s Nannette Wheelis defeated Magnolia’s Donna Moore and Georgetown’s Linda Pryor 1 up. On Tuesday, Ayers and Wheelis defeated Keith and Piening 6 and 5.
In the fourth flight consolation match, Bastrop’s Sharon Baker and Smithville’s Laurie Eyting defeated Sugar Land’s Susan Councill and Houston’s Katherine Kuo. The No. 2 seed defeated Robertson and Bastidas 3 and 1 in the first round of consolation match play.
In the fifth flight consolation match, Corpus Christi’s Lea Ann Stikeleather and Mary Swan defeated defending champions Emilie Wilshire of Houston and Mary Dees of Cypress. The duo defeated Butler and Reaves 1 up in a back-and-forth match on Tuesday to advance to the final consolation match where they won 5 and 3.
In the sixth flight consolation match, the team of Fort Worth’s Stacy Rehm and Willow Park’s Pamela Bean defeated Montgomery’s team of Julie Rodriguez and Lynette Hutar. In one of only two matches to go 18-holes in Wednesday’s final round of matches, Rehm sunk a 30-foot putt to win 1 up against their opponents.

Host Club: Walden on Lake Conroe Golf Club was originally designed and built in 1976 by Robert Von Hagge and former PGA Tour player Bruce Devlin. It’s a private golf club that is open to residents and non-residents. The course features Tifeagle greens, large pines, and pristine bunkers amidst ancient oak trees. At 6,756 yards and par-72 the course will be fun and provide a good challenge to some of the state’s best women.
Tournament History: The Women’s Partnership Match Play was previously played in a quota format and named the Women’s Partnership. Last year, in its previous quota format, the tournament was held at Riverhill Country Club, where Mary Dees and Emilie Wilshire won the overall championship for the first time with 25 total points. The tournament was canceled in 2020 due to COVID-19. Margaret Bosman and Lorraine Werner won in 2019 at Golfcrest Country Club; Camm Dougherty and Leslie McCallick won back-to-back titles in 2017-18.
