Galvan and Bolado Lead at Alamo Shootout

Kerrville – Elijah Galvan of Lakeway shoots a first round 3-under 69 at Riverhill Country Club to lead the Boys Division of the Alamo Shootout. Presley Bolado of New Braunfels takes the lead of the Girls Division with a 1-over 73.

Leaders: Elijah Galvan, class of 2024, made five birdies and one eagle on the day to take a two-stroke lead in the Boys Division. In the Girls Division, Presley Bolado finished with a two-stroke lead over second place. Her first-round success was powered by five birdies.

In Contention: Trailing Galvan by one stroke in the Boys Division is Selma’s Shiv Parmar. Parmar’s first round 1-under 71 was highlighted by a 3-under 33 on the front nine. Five other players are currently tied for third in the Boys Division at even-par 72. In the Girls Division, Raleygh Simpson of Kerrville sits two strokes off of the lead. Danielle Bailey and Lydia Portlock, both out of San Antonio, remain three strokes back at 4-over 76.

Event Format: The Alamo Shootout is a 36-hole stroke play event with players competing in two divisions: Boys 12-18 and Girls 12-18. The field was selected based on the order of player registration.

Weather: Temperatures started in the low-60’s in the morning and rose to a high of 70 by the end of the day. Players faced five to ten mile per hour winds out of the south and saw mostly cloudy skies.

Golf Course: Designed by close friends Joe Finger and Byron Nelson in 1974, Riverhill Country Club’s 18-hole course is a premier location for golf in Texas and the United States. Based in the heart of Hill Country, the course boasts its rare bent-grass greens and a 7,137 yard, 72-par challenge featuring scenic creeks, hills and a lake throughout the property. Over time, the course became Nelson’s favorite, where he was quoted saying, “If I had only one golf course to play, it would be Riverhill.”

What’s next: The Final Round of the Alamo Shootout is scheduled for a 8:00 AM start on Sunday, with tee times going until 9:48 AM off the No. 1 & 10 tees. At the conclusion of play on Sunday, the top finishers will be awarded.
